Summary

Freshly arrived from a beautiful Tunisian island to work for the exacting Countess Poulais de Roc, Fatima find herself in a city where even the most mudane tasks prove baffling. But her natural compassion and sheer grit ensure her survival, and unexpectedly bring good fortune to those around her. And then suddenly, it's Fatima's turn to seize happiness. Warmhearted and witty, this is a story of love and determination alive with the sights sounds and tastes of Paris.

Fatima's Good Fortune

Fat, illiterate Fatima Monsour leaves Djerba in Tunisia to take up the place of her dead sister working in Paris for the Countess Poulais du Roc. Fatima is on her way to America to find the husband who deserted her. Fat and illiterate she may be, but Fatima is a woman of personality, initiative and warmth and within no time Paris, for her, becomes a village full of mostly kind and interesting people. Touching and funny this is a real feel good listen and I highly recommend it as a relaxing, unchallenging listen. Beautifully read with humour and style.
