About this listen

David Baldacci's First Family is the fourth gripping New York Times best seller in the King and Maxwell series.

'When she turned the page and her gaze flickered over the date on top, it was as though the lightning outside had somehow grounded right into her. A billion volts of pain, a shriek of anguish you could actually see and feel as it pierced her.'

Camp David, USA. A birthday party turns into a nightmare when a child is snatched after the celebrations.

The first lady enlists the services of Sean King and Michelle Maxwell to bring the child home safely. But she and King share a past. Years ago he saved her then senator husband from political disaster. And this may not be all that passed between them.

With Michelle still battling her own demons, the two are pushed to the limit, with forces aligned on all sides against them - and the line between friend and foe impossible to define...or defend.

David Baldacci's smash-hit series continues with The Sixth Man and King and Maxwell.

Not my favourite King and Maxwell but still a great listen. I wish the publisher would stick with the same narrator.

Typical David Baldacci.. But that's good

I have enjoyed many David Baldacci audio books but I'm finding the music and sound effects annoying and unnecessary and they are distracting me from the story. Also I'm not overly keen on this narrator but I will battle on and hopefully Baldacci's yarn spinning will make up for it in the longrun.

Annoying music and sound effects

This was a really good listen. Perhaps not His best , but definitely worth buying. I meant to read a chapter or two to begin with but after twenty three chapters managed to put the light out. That's what I call gripping!

Gripping

A bit of a slow start with the plot setup, but a good read nonetheless. The reading was good too.

Slow starting but good overall

First Family had more twists than I was expecting and the intertwined elements of Baldacci’s story were held together by the, as always, excellent performance reading skills of Ron McLarty. Some of the pace was lost in the middle sections but this picked up again in the latter half culminating in a superb yet unexpected ending. I can just see this as a Netflix mini series.

Superb story - excellently read!
