Orphaned at 18, a naïve and solitary Chris Pritchard joins the Metropolitan Police in search of a family, friends and a regular income. Please, audible - you HAVE to get the other six in the series, and the sooner the better!! (I’ll even forgive the brilliant narrator his hilarious mispronunciation of “indictable”…)

I hung on every word in this book. It was one of those books that you want to get back to. I enjoyed the relationships, especially since the story is based on real people of the time. It contains the full range of emotions and was exceptionally well read.

Beautifully crafted around intriguing situations around a young police probationer in the 80s with a quick script. The narrator has a great pace and can do multiple voices and many accents. Just wish books 2 and 3 in the series were available.

It kind of begins a bit slow but the more you listen the more you get into the story, the characters and the insight it gives into 80s Met policing is fascinating. superbly told story.

Absolutely loved this book. I felt like I was there with them. Some hearty belly laughs and sad moments also. Shame the rest of series is not on audible as the narrator was great. I’ll be carrying on with kindle though!
