About this listen
When, in the course of a week, a young heroin addict is gunned down while trying to rob a convenience store, a narcotics dealer is found hanging from a bridge, and the granddaughter of a political bigwig dies of an overdose, Vermont detective Joe Gunther vows to stop the flow of drugs into his beloved state.

Yet another great story

Good to get to know more about other members of the team, I still don’t think the new Federal Agents thing is really gelling. It’s more political and less about fighting street crime
But I will keep going with the series, live in hope that Jo will retire and Gail will move away and become a Politician.
Nice change with Sami in the lead.

Again, Joe and Gails “relationship”, is just tedious!
The stories in the books are, to me, completely separate from the characters, these books span years but there’s no dimension or growth in their characters. The way they behave is so gung ho and yet they’ve been in these professional roles for years, supposedly.
Yes, I know it’s fiction but it still has to make sense.
It’s fine to concentrate on the crime and I really don’t need to know about their personal lives but if all the adolescent insecurities are raised in every single book, which they are, then the relationships do need some depth to give us some insight. Otherwise we’re just listening to the pointless, endless moans of characters, and really as that’s all that ALL the “relationships“ represent then leave them out and concentrate just on the crimes.
I think this is my last Joe Gunther.
Hmm!
