About this listen
The first four books of the Girls of Summer series introduced Emma Blakeley and Jamie Maxwell, two athletes with bright soccer futures. Now, in Girls of Summer, the US Women's National Team (USWNT) is in its final round of preparations before the 2015 World Cup. For Jamie, a starting spot on the World Cup roster would be a dream come true. For Emma, the summer of 2015 offers a chance at redemption. Will both women see their lifelong hopes and dreams realized? And can their relationship withstand the intense scrutiny of the outside world?
To find out where this crucial summer takes Jamie and Emma, check out the latest installment in the story of their lives, loves, and would-be world championships in Girls of Summer, book five of the best-selling series."

what a game
soccer, pk, scrimmage; I'm English but this is a foreign language, lol
sensational story about the USA womens' team of 2015, and thier glorious victory over Japan.
but it's so much more, the trials and tribulations of families, players, and coaching staff, the sacrifices and dogged endurance to play the beautiful game at top level.
the romance is portrayed so beautifully and realistically, facing discrimination as women and being gay.
there is political content, most I agree with, and some as a brit I can't, but it's never lecturing but historically factual to my knowledge, and I cheered then and now at sept blatters' sacking.
the writing is excellent, as is the narration
and after only last yr England winning the European ladies Cup, with the same manager (?) I throughly enjoyed series.
and whilst listening to the this, I discover book 6 is waiting for the audible release, and I've purchased the novella 6.5
coincidence as I have 6.5 granddaughters, and as with thier mothers I will encourage and support whoever they love/ whatever they want to do.
