About this listen

In this funny romantic series, the Shackleford sisters descend on a Regency society that doesn't know what's hit it…

....Reverend Augustus Shackleford's mission in life (aside from ensuring the collection box was suitably full every Sunday) was to secure advantageous marriages for each of his eight daughters. A tall order, given the fact that in the Reverend's opinion they didn't possess a single ladylike bone in the eight bodies they had between them. Quite where he would find a wealthy titled gentleman bottle headed enough to take any of them on remained a mystery and indeed was likely to test even his legendary resourcefulness. ....

Grievously wounded at the Battle of Trafalgar, Nicholas Sinclair was only recently returned to Blackmore after receiving news of his estranged father's unexpected death. After an absence of twenty years, the new Duke was well aware it was his duty to marry and produce an heir as quickly as possible. However, tormented by recurring nightmares after his horrific experiences during the battle, Nicholas had no taste to brave the ton's marriage mart in search of a docile obedient wife. …..

Never in his wildest dreams did Reverend Shackleford envisage receiving an offer for his eldest daughter from the new Duke of Blackmore. Of course, the Reverend was well aware he was fudging it a bit in describing Grace as respectful, meek or dutiful, nevertheless, he could never have imagined that his eldest daughter's unruliness might end up ruining them all….

Perfect for fans of funny, lighthearted Regency Romances with a little bit of steam.

brilliant narration and story

the characters evolved quickly and the story moved swiftly so much so I was disappointed when it ended

Quite good

Although quite a predictable ending to the story, it was good. With regard to the narrative I found the female voice pleasant but the male voice frustrated me.

Not that good and not that funny!

Although read by 2 narrators male/female, to be honest I wasn’t really impressed by the male…

I’m toying with the idea of reading/listening to the next in the series - Temperance - to see if it improves. Thank goodness for the Kindle Unlimited/Audible discount.

An entertaining book

I enjoyed this book although I sometimes found the male narrator a bit over the top wirh the vicar's voice and the Duke's was a bit harsh and didn't really match his physical description, however, his Scottish accent was excellent.
I will certainly listen to the rest of the sister's stories as they come along

Boring & not funny

I gave up after a few chapters. I agree with previous comments about the voices used for the male characters. They were very annoying. And I didn't find it at all funny, just boring.

Quite good

I did enjoy this story, it's quite funny and entertaining. The narration is ok, bit strange as the two narrators try to do the same character voices but they are obviously different so the flow is odd but I did enjoy it

Entertaining

Listened to the second in this series first because this audiobook was listed separate to the series. The second book has a better storyline then the first but the narration made up for the story. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea but found it extremely funny the male doing the female voices and when he does Percy’s.
Well worth a listen for the entertainment alone. Will be getting the next one when it’s out.

Something old but new

Grace was a joy and had me giggling to myself on many occasions. It was refreshing to listening to something that was set in times gone by but with a modern sense of humour
