About this listen

The smallest of creatures often carry the sharpest of stings. Lydia Chapman is just such a vampire. Her small stature hides a mighty wit, a razor-edged tongue, and an implacable protector of the only natural-born vampire in existence. Here is the back story of the snarkiest hero on Team Gordon/Demidova, told in her own words, just for fans of the Demon Accords. Go ahead and underestimate her ... it'll be fun.

I found the progress made in the story interesting although I found the initial jumping between time zones disjointing and immersion breaking.

I was disappointed that the continuity of the names were not upheld, suddenly old characters were barely recognisable due to differences in pronunciation.

could've been better

I really like the series, but the woman who performs this story has an awful, highpitched voice. And very non-versatile with it.
I had to turn the volume down, for her voice hurt my ears. Literally. This is a perfect example of how to ruin a story. I may consider to buy the e-book instead.

Good continuity of the story

You can't help but love Lydia and this is a great opportunity to find out more about her and how she came to be a vampire. Not only that though, this book continues the Demon Accords story really well as it goes between the past and the present. I am really looking forward to discovering which character Conroe focuses on next and where the story goes.

The problem with changing the narrator this far into the series is admirably demonstrated here ... Lily Ganser has narrated some of the side stories, but has stubbornly failed to listen to how JPC has pronounced the names of some of the major characters. Vadeem is pronounced "Va-dumb" ... Bar-b-'eel' is mutilated to "bar-bi-el" among others and I hadn't even registered Macha's granddaughter is in the story until the second time I listened to this so badly mangled is her name.

I've commented elsewhere that JPC's international accents are laughable ... but Ms Ganser's Irish is cringeworthy beyond belief, and truly managed to achieve something that JPC never managed - to ruin a D.A. book for me.

This is one of the few books that if audible re-recorded it with JPC as the narrator, I'd probably rebuy it, just to have the series and not endure Ms Ganser.

Storywise - not the best, but I think it was a filler while Blood Lines (the last in the D.A. series is coming together) and it's interesting to have Lydia's backstory.

(I have no idea how the character's names are spelled since I've only followed the series on Audible - but for the love of all that's holy this is awful!)

Not the best story distroyed by the narration

I don't know if JPC was busy and unable or this is a side book like White Wolf or Darkin Knight but after 19 books in a series you get used to how characters sound and getting a new person to come in this late in the game is just stupid , im pretty sure the fans that listen to the series on Audio book would have waited for JPC i know i would have ,

As for the story , it was a little weak but it did provide some un answered questions Nika Bondar for one

On the whole and considering i nearly didnt even buy this book once i saw who was narrating it ,as much as i love the series as a whole this book has ruined it all i can hope is the next book in the chain is back under JPC's stewardship and this one is moved to an outside serial like the above mentioned , plus the story really need to get back on track and by that i mean back to its core , its hard to keep calling the series the demon accords when its fast become the boy witch and his computer

Narration Ruined it

As a massive fan of the Demon Accords series this was a complete let down all because of the narrator......I've listened to the series 5 times so far and if I listen again I'll give this one a miss. Trying to work out who was talking due to different voices and persona's was the main thing that ruined it. Pronouncing Barbiel - Bar-Bile, Bar-BELL & and numerous other ways for one was driving me mad :) Should of stuck with James Patrick Cronin, even when doing the different genders he is ideal.

Wrong narrator

Basically Lydia's backstory. But boring as hell ..hardly any action and the story line is droll.

feels like a filler to meet a quota
