Summary

Rock god Noah Hart needs inspiration. And he's choosing me as his muse.

In my darkest days, I found solace in the words of rock star god Noah Hart. He saw into my heart. And I saw into his. Even though we'd never met, I felt as if I knew the man behind the music.

Then I met him.

Noah isn't a wounded poet. He's a jerk.

He's abrasive, cutting, and guarded as hell. He says people are selfish. He says we're only out for ourselves. He refuses to trust. He refuses to let anyone in.

I'm supposed to be helping him write a song. I'm supposed to be his confidant.

But the only time we connect is when we take to his bed. Noah plays my body as skillfully as he plays the piano. He makes me feel things I've never dreamed of.

And that includes heartache.

The man behind the music is nothing like I imagined. Who exactly is this Noah Hart I've met, and what the hell happened to my soulful, romantic poet?

Contains mature themes.

Meh

This book wasn't terrible, I would have stopped listening to it if it had been, but jeez, there was room for improvement. My main issue was that only one character was remotely likeable and they were a supporting one! All characters lacked depth and were very 2D

The narrator sounds like one of those TikTok AI voiceovers. As long as that doesn't bother you, you'll manage.

The h is broadly speaking an insecure doormat. I found it hard to believe that she got the job position she did -with a high profile band no less - with the attitude she projected. She tolerated a lot of crap from the H, probably because she was so thirsty for him. So thirsty she basically let the H use her.
I wouldnt want her as my best friend, she barely mentions them until halfway through the book and completely ditched them twice towards the end. Mind you, her friends are pushy busybodies who wanted gossip fodder.

The H I suppose was supposed to come off as "grumpy" but he came across as a cruel, unfeeling, ****head. If you think of the "not like other girls" idea, and transpose that into "I'm not romantic" - basically anything close to coming across as caring was seen as a weakness by him. As long as he got off, he was happy. He never grovelled anywhere near enough for hurting the h, mind you, he probably knew she would just roll over anyway (though she does stand up for herself at one point).

I didn't believe the chemistry and attraction the author was trying to get across. it was barely a HEA and more an HFN. It seemed a relationship of convenience - they were both single and found each other attractive, that'll do.
I didn't like how they referred to the H as Noah F***ing Hart all the time. I'm not a prude, it was just cringe worthy.

The spicy scenes were well written (despite the lack of chemistry) and if I actually cared about the characters, I'd have been rooting for them more during the drama. With some refinement this book would have been better.
