About this listen

The former Perrier Newcomer Nominee, Time Out Award Winner, and Comedy Store Regular, who has had six series on Radio 4, performs live Downstairs at the Kings Head. He uses words like conkers, cooking them in the vinegar of his mind, then bringing them down on the heads of his audience without warning.©2008 Laughing Stock Productions (P)2008 Laughing Stock Productions Performing Arts Stand-up Shows Funny

Great as ever. Laughed all the way through. Highly recommended, just wish I could remember those jokes

Some great material from the king of one liners. His timing is impeccable for the material

After getting used to one-liners, I found this hilarious. Really was not expecting where he was going with some jokes which is a nice change.

Laugh out loud one liner jokes.

Literally in hysterics all the way through particularly his grandma joke… brilliant

If you like his quick wit humour, you'll like this. It is of course a recording of a live comedy set, rather than a specific audiobook story or a documentary type listen about the comedian, its one of his shows in audio format.

Some of it doesn't work well in this format as people are clearly laughing at things we can't see but I did find myself chuckle a few times while listening to this and given its in the Plus Catalogue, it was worth a listing, so, can't complain. Good but maybe not quite great. Definitely one for fans of Milton Jones.

More eccentric Milton Jones-ishness

I really enjoy the Radio 4. Milton Jones series, the stand up not so much. A series of usually totally unconnected one liners turning the expected into quirky odd ball comments , like
- The Pope loves cats: he's a Catoholic.
- He took his sister to a poultry farm; not the hen night she'd expected.
- Before his Grandfather died, Grandmother covered his back with lard: after that, he went downhill very quickly
He uses a slow delivery to separate the very random one liners, sometimes seeking almost hesitant, to allow his audience to keep up. He was, at times, very funny, but without any base line story for this reader it felt as if it never really started. Just me, I guess.
But I did enjoy the just under one hour of the live recording, available to download for free from the Audible Plus programme.

"Tricky, isn't it?"

Mostly amusing… some very funny… not really a story! But if you like Milton style this is for you!
