Summary
'I love it! Hilarious and thought-provoking!' - Fearne Cotton
'A sweet sharp read' - Jessie Burton
'A laugh-out-loud funny book.' - Lucy Diamond
Marianne Power was stuck in a rut. Then one day she wondered: could self-help books help her find the elusive perfect life?
She decided to test one book a month for a year, following their advice to the letter. What would happen if she followed the 7 Habits of Highly Effective People? Really felt The Power of Now? Could she unearth The Secret to making her dreams come true?
What begins as a clever experiment becomes an achingly poignant story. Because self-help can change your life – but not necessarily for the better . . .
Help Me! is an irresistibly funny and incredibly moving book about a wild and ultimately redemptive journey that will resonate with anyone who’s ever dreamed of finding happiness.
Perfect for readers who enjoyed Everything I know About Love by Dolly Alderton, Mad Girl by Bryony Gordon and Reasons to Stay Alive by Matt Haig.

Great book - funny, poignant and informative
Poignant, at times sad and at times laugh out loud funny. An excellent introduction to (and cautionary tale of) the world of self help.. Even if you're not interested in self help I think this is an interesting and engaging book; most people will find something in it that resonates with their own experiences, and for me it was spot on. Marianne's reading is excellent. Massive kudos to her for being so raw and honest.

Charming, relatable and funny!
I was hooked from the beginning, I felt so identified, maybe because I was going through a rough patch and I was on the verge of touching rock bottom. I laughed and cried with it and I totally recommend it, it left a smile on my face and a much-needed feeling of calmness and peace.

Empathy
Listening to the soul searching in this story was like reading something I could have written myself about me. I have lots of self help books in my audible collection, many I listened too. Lots of the same hopes, fears and uncertainty about me, myself and the universe. It was comforting to hear her perspective. She’s much braver, or more desperate perhaps than me, allowing herself to complete the many, often ridiculous challenges. But she is warm hearted, hopeful, loving and loved, and in the end it was all ok. That’s a great ending, not rich, famous, popular whatever, just ok about being ok. It lifted my heart and I would recommend it to everyone because I’m sure she is right when she asserts that everyone has their own stuff going on in their own heads about themselves and it’s really not all about me. Buy it, you won’t regret it.

Self Help in a story
What a great book, so true to life. I listen or read a self help book, then digest what it says for 5 minutes! And it's onto the next one, but Marianne tests a book a month, putting them in to practice. She shows you how brave you can be and the ups and downs of self help books and the pitfalls of trusting too much in the universe without a back up plan! But prooves after all, happiness is possible when you have the love of your friends and family around you.
