Hilda fyller 9 år och i födelsedagspresent önskar hon sig ett par nya skridskor. Det blir en hel del skridskoåkning med kompisarna från skolan denna födelsedag, men det händer andra saker också. På vägen till isbanan blir Hilda nästan påkörd. Och senare bär det iväg till veterinären med den olydiga hunden Fydå, som brutit svansen. Hilda är snabb med att rädda sina vänner som råkat illa ut.

Esther Skriver (1926) är utbildad lärare och har arbetat som lärarinna i Århus från 1949 och fram till 1986. Hon är uppväxt i en hantverkarfamilj från Ebeltoft och har skrivit lättlästa böcker för barn sedan 1968.
