About this listen

How far will you go to protect your child? A superb Sunday Times number one best seller from the author of Six Years.

Tia and Mike Baye never imagined they'd become the type of overprotective parents who spy on their kids. But their 16-year-old son Adam has been unusually distant lately, and after the suicide of his classmate Spencer, they can't help but worry. They install a sophisticated spy program on Adam's computer, and within days, they are jolted by a message from an unknown correspondent addressed to their son: 'Just stay quiet and all safe.'

Meanwhile, browsing through an online memorial for Spencer, Betsy Hill is struck by a photo that appears to have been taken on the night of her son's death and he wasn't alone. She thinks it is Adam Baye, standing just outside the camera's range, but when Adam goes missing, it soon becomes clear that something deep and sinister has infected their community....

A Very good story that you had to concentrate on which held your attention.
It is complicated and clever.

Complicated story

Very difficult to get into. Narration was difficult to follow with some characters but ultimately it was an acceptable story.

Hmmm

I really enjoyed the story but did have trouble keeping up with who was who.
The narration was like someone who hadn’t been reading for long, it was stilted and didn’t flow well, but I’ve heard worse….once, hence the lack of two stars for performance

Great Story, terrible narration

Very poor narration which destroys a great story. Should come with a warning not to drive while listening to this story as it actually puts one to sleep. Due to the narrator it was very difficult to follow the story lines. Monotoned Monotonous voice.

Great Story - Horrible Narration

not really to my taste, dissapointing, usually enjoy Harlan Coben. This was very hard to listen to!

the terrible performance

As always a great Coben story. But I’m afraid I agree with other reviewers that I prefer Weber as a narrator. Or how about Richard Armitage?

Another Coben twister

Unfortunately it’s almost impossible to listen to this audiobook. The narrator sounds like he’s recently learnt to read on the way he sounds like a lot of the words. It’s odd as it’s not all the time. It makes for very jarring listening of what seems like another great Coben story.

Another fabulous story but terribly narrated.

First up - the narration was horrible - plodding and robotic. I had to listen at *1.2 speed or I’d have expired. Secondly, the story was ok. There are really two main elements, plus a minor sub-plot and so it felt like the author had a few ideas and cobbled them together. The overall effect meant a proper suspension of reality was required. This has put me off Coben for a while at least.

So-so, somewhat random
