Summary
Bloomsbury presents Home by Cailean Steed.
Someone has broken into Zoe’s flat. A man she thought she’d never have to see again.
They call him the Hand of God.
He knows about her job in the cafe, her life in Dublin, her ex-girlfriend, even the knife she’s hidden under the mattress.
She thought she’d left him far behind, along with the cult of the Children and their isolated compound Home – but now he’s found her, and she knows she must go back to rescue the sister who helped her escape all those years before.
But returning to Home means going back to the enforced worship and strict gender roles Zoe has long since moved beyond; back to the abuse and indoctrination she’s fought desperately to overcome.
Going back will make her question everything she believed about her past – but could also risk her hard-won freedom. Can she break free a second time?
One – My name is Zoe
Two – I am here to rescue my sister Amy
Three – Nothing anyone says here is true
Four –
Four –
What is my fourth true thing?
Critic reviews
"Really entertaining and pacy and fun to read, while still playing in that serious emotional territory." (Sara Taylor, author of The Shore and The Lauras)
"A daring debut... Intoxicating, powerful and very visceral. Stunning prose, very dark but also filled with hope and love centred around identity and the struggle to find a sense of belonging. I was desperate for a happy ending." (Caron McKinlay, author of The Storytellers)
"Absorbing, moving, and alarmingly believable, Home is an unforgettable story about identity, family, and the terrifying dynamics of a cult." (Carole Johnstone, author of Mirrorland)

Excellent story
Great story and wonderful narration. Would definitely read other books by this author. Some hard to listen to parts as it is about a cult (so to be expected).

Fast paced thriller you won't be able to put down
A brilliantly crafted and compelling novel that had me on tenterhooks throughout. At times heartwrenching, and dealing well with lots of complex themes. Loved it, 5 stars!

Sisterhood xx
This is the 1st book I have read about a cult and I really enjoyed it and it opened my eyes to different world which I enjoyed reading about. The blurb of the book had me very intrigued to read it and am so glad I did read this book. I listen to the audiobook and it kept me motivated and interested as I could really picture the world the story was written in. I like how the characters were small and kept you gripped all the way though the book. The characters were all written amazingly and I really enjoyed all the characters as they all fitted into this story perfectly as they all had their own roles to play in the story. I really liked the ending as is don’t expect it to end like it do but wow. Such a great read and I will be pickling up more by this author. Thank you to the Author and publisher for my physical copy of the book and also to net-gallery for giving me an arc of this beautiful book. Xxx

Couldn’t stop listening
Its focus on the relationship between sisters and identity drew me in. I loved that the main character is so fully realised even though her sense of self is at times hard for her to grasp at. I don’t normally read thrillers but loved this book. Loved the narration too.

Fast paced and intriguing debut
This story was fantastic and so was the narration. The short chapters kept me moving along quickly. Unlike some books that work in flash back, I never once lost my place in the story so good was the authors writing.
One of the best debuts I’ve read and I look forward to the second book.
