About this listen
Book four in the Gaunt's Ghosts series.
Sent to retrieve holy artefacts from a world lost to Chaos, Gaunt’s Ghosts find themselves beset by the enemy...but is Saint Sabbat herself helping them from beyond the grave?
Listen to it because: it's a new start for Gaunt's Ghosts. With a whole load of new troopers in the regiment and a dangerous mission - a race against time to retrieve holy relics from a dying world - Gaunt and his men (and women now!) have their work cut out for them.
The story: in disgrace after a catastrophic war, Colonel-Commissar Ibram Gaunt and the Tanith First are sent to retrieve precious artefacts from a world lost to Chaos. With enemy all around them and time against them, Gaunt's Ghosts and their allies must prevent the holy relics of Saint Sabbat from falling into their foes' hands, and as mysterious events begin to occur, Gaunt begins to suspect that the Saint herself might be aiding them from beyond the grave.
Running time 10 hours 13 minutes.

Toby Longworth and Dan Abnett never fails
Loved it. The tank battles in this varied up the usual vibe of the Tanith books, and also Gaunt himself gets further depth of character added.

A peerless entry for the Black Library
Perhaps the best yet, having read the previous books in chronological order.
Toby Longworth's narration is fantastic as he continues to capture the essence of each established character, as well as newer ones introduced in this novel. Moments of poignancy and humour are handled excellently.
Dan Abnett created a real masterpiece with Honour Guard. For all the over-the-top mad action and gothic horror that is 40K, the novel succeeds in creating a story which is fantastical and yet grounded perfectly within its respective world and our own.
Regardless of even the context of 40K, this is one of the best stories of human endeavour, friendship, humour, belief and sacrifice that I have read.

Gaunt and Saint Sabbat!
Whilst I have enjoyed listening the Gaunts Ghosts books so far albeit they are not released in order so I am getting them in reverse order 🤔 for me this book is definitely one of the best released so far, a great story with action, angst, pathos and quite a bit of humour, as always outstanding narration

solid start to the 2nd omnibus
The series picks up well from the excellent end of the initial "Founding" trilogy with a real introduction to the sabbatine cult and the "Saint" collection of the novels. enjoyed the performance although longworth seemed to alter the Gaunt voice which seems weird considering it's been consistent in earlier and much later books.

There are just too few GG audio's!! So good!
I dont think I would say "my favourite" but still an excellent story and as always a perfect perdormance from Mr.Longworth (Im not sure anyone else does the Ghosts the same justice!) Felt slightly like a rushed finale but on reflection, with all of the earlier detail heavy battles, the contrast worked. My only issue is I am ALWAYS left wanting more! Mr.Abnett, you are a legend and I thankyou, Gaunt has aided the war on my Black Dog one bolter round at a time )) And after Anarch.....?

Best Ghosts Book Yet
I know Necropolis is widely loved and it’s very good, but I enjoyed this one more.
