Summary
‘Engaging, ambitious and creative’ Guardian
Where are we? Are we alone? Who are we? Why are we here? What is our future?
Human Universe tackles some of the greatest questions that humans have asked to try and understand the very nature of ourselves and the Universe in which we live.
Through the endless leaps of human minds, it explores the extraordinary depth of our knowledge today and where our curiosity may lead us in the future. With groundbreaking insight it reveals how time, physics and chemistry came together to create a creature that can wonder at its own existence, blessed with an unquenchable thirst to discover not just where it came from, but how it can think, where it is going and if it is alone.
Accompanies the acclaimed BBC TV series.

‘If you didn’t utter a wow watching the TV, you will while reading the book.’ The Times

Entertaining and knowledgeable
This was well written in the 'down to Earth' way we have come to expect from Brian Cox. I found it entertaining and knowledgeable and the narrator Samuel West was excellent. Enthusiastically Brian explains the latest knowledge of how the universe began and in particular life began, and how mankind has developed over eons from primeval sludge to modern man. It's fascinating and fills you with hope for the future.

A Love Letter To Humanity
Professor Brian Cox has a child-like fascination for human kind and the civilazation that comes with it.He believes in us,in our species,in our human soul. This book is his love letter to humanity. This is a book, not only filled with knowlage but also hope.
If you, like B.Cox, find a single atom is fascinating, then how can you wrap your head around how fascinating man is?Our unlikeliness of existance should be celebrated, our achivements praised and our humanity preserved.
This book tackles interesting subjects. From the likelihood of alien life to Einstein's theory of relativity all explained plainly and passionatly.
The audiobook format works great. The narrator is just excellent and the book has a really good flow.

Why we are so special in the universe
Brian Cox' love letter to the cosmos about why we're so special in it.
We are special, the Earth is special now let's not ruin it.
I am a scientist myself, in the environmental and chemical sciences, and this really reminded me of just how passionate and just how interesting we find our own subject.
Brian Cox' passion oozes though the words and is excellently conveyed by the narrator, Samuel West.
It also conveys the importance of science to the economy, the average person and to multinational cooperation.
