Pretty cool if you like true crime.
I quite enjoy true crime and for the most part I enjoyed this book. Lt Kenda doesn’t have the best voice but I appreciate him telling his own story.

Compelling
Joe Kenda is such a great with a dry humour you can't help but love. His life is interesting and you're quickly sucked in straight from the very beginning when he starts telling his story. Now I need to get my hands on the next one!

Capturing read
Audio book in Lt Joe Kenda’s voice with no filter, was a really good listen.
Found out about aspects of his life and career which aren’t televised. His PTSD description, cases and other things captured my time and I literally finished the audiobook in less than two days.

He could sell me a heater in hell
Brilliant book really want more. He made me laugh think and I would love to meet him. He got a very sexy voice and the way he tells a story makes you listen begging for more stories.

You said it well Kenda
Joe Kenda's book is riveting. Sometimes gruesome. Sometimes laugh out loud. I have to say as a female listener I thought it would be a mild mannered Clark Kent type approach like his show. Hmmm no such thing. In reality (real reality) Joe describes with searing honesty his job. He dispels the myth, legend and 'glamour' of crime. And makes it more fascinating in that there are humans who will commit this horrific stuff to themselves and others and humans like Kenda who have to sort out the aftermath. He pulls no punches delivering picture after picture of various death scenes he has attended over his career. He mixes his story with anecdotal tales from his own family and the impact of his career on them. A very thought provoking human story I stayed with until the end. My thoughts never strayed. I really listened. You said it well Joe

Great book. Joe Kenda is Awesome!
I first found out about Joe Kenda from Homicide Hunter but when I saw his books on Audible, I had to buy them. Thoroughly enjoyed them even though the subject matter can be grisly and harrowing in places but it’s good to know that almost 99% of the time Joe got his man/woman. Joe is an inspiration to so many, an old fashioned, no nonsense cop but with a kind and compassionate attitude, when it was needed. Wish all cops were more like him. I highly recommend this book and his second book Killer Triggers. Both get 10/10 from me.

Real Life Noir
Joe Kenda comes across, through both his writing and narration, as a noir character. You'd believe he was written by Raymond Chandler or James Elroy. The fact that he is a real person who investigated real crimes is simultaneously shocking and delightful.
