Summary
Se solo lo volesse, Attilio Bonifazi, detto anche Ottavo re di Roma, potrebbe far cadere il governo. Il suo regno è l'immondizia, da cui ha spremuto negli anni potere e ricchezze. Così Marta si è lasciata colare addosso strati di grasso, talmente tanto che ormai è una ventiduenne obesa che trascorre le sue giornate senza mettere il naso fuori di casa. Sola, aggressiva, violenta e senza amici, a eccezione di Lorenzo, l'ex compagno di scuola educato e gentile, che in quel mondo dorato sembra trovarsi a suo agio.
Il padre Attilio invece è un combattente, lui non molla, anche quando tutto pare precipitare. Abbandonare il business dei rifiuti come consiglia il figlio maggiore Pietro, fresco di laurea a Oxford? Ma non sempre le cose sono come sembrano e la verità può affiorare nel modo più inaspettato. Con un sottile gioco di prospettive che annulla ogni pretesa di oggettività, Teresa Ciabatti smaschera in questo romanzo tenero e crudele le bugie di una famiglia e di un Paese.
