The year is 2575, and two megacorporations are at war over a planet that's little more than an ice-covered speck. Too bad nobody thought to warn the people living on it.

With enemy fire raining down on them, Ezra and Kady have to make their escape on the evacuating fleet. But their troubles are just beginning.

A deadly plague has broken out on one of the spaceships and is mutating, with terrifying results. Their ship's protection is seriously flawed.

No one will say what is going on. As Kady hacks in to a tangled web of data to find the truth, it's clear only one person can help her: Ezra. And the only problem with that is they split up before all this trouble started, and she isn't supposed to be talking to him.

A fantastically original, heart-stopping adventure where everything is definitely more dangerous than it seems.

great performances. strong story

this is a great read. The audio book performances are incredible, really gripping and well delivered. The story is clever and intricate and I really rooted for the main characters. Minor story issues included getting a bit lost with the plot in the middle when all the AI sci-fi stuff really kicked in and I ended op skipping through the final few chapters as they felt too detailed and strung out and there's only so much tension I can handle in one burst. But overall it is a book that is well worth reading.

There was such a variety of very interesting and well-developed characters, you felt for each and every one of them.
The Setting- who doesn't dream of going to space?

What was one of the most memorable moments of Illuminae?

There were so many great moments in this book; that I found it really hard to choose just one.

What does the narrators bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

It added a whole new dimension to the story- i loved the descriptions and sound effects, made me feel as if you were actually there. You feel like part of the story and it helped you really engage with each character. Plus, the creepy/sinister edge to the AI's voice was spot-on

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

There were a couple;either
"The Space-Chase", "Fear is the Killer"(spoiler) or "Love Bytes"(computers play a big part in the story).

Any additional comments?

Can't wait for the third(and final) book in the series!! Would make a great movie or TV show.

An Exhilerating Thrill-Ride

Fans of AI, Zombies, Space Opera and Military SciFi, who like something a bit different will love this. Told in the form of a report on an investigation into an illegal corporate attack on a colony, it is both fast paced and satisfyingly literary. The two main protagonists are strong and believable and the denouement is held in abeyance until the last few minutes of the story. Excellent. I can't rate it too highly.

The voices are on point, and the use of multiple different VAs could not be more fitting for the book, major props to the VA for AIDAN.
Amazing adaptation of an amazing book, definitely worth many re-listenings.

I was not sure that l would enjoy this book however, it pulled me in within the first five minutes and l could not stop listening! I feel that it was very well written and the plot unfolded nicely, easy to follow and the twists and turns it took were very surprising!! If you are a sci-fi fan then l think you would enjoy this too! Just about to start book two.

Thrilling twisty space adventure.
I recommend listening to this whilst reading the book to get the full effect of the graphics.
The swearing is dubbed but it’s still obvious what is being said.

my first audio book. took a while to get used to listening and not my usual type of book but the story grew on me and by the end i was wanting more.

Wow, where to start with this review? I have been badgering the BF to use his audible credits for this series for months. I had heard on Instagram how it was one of the most amazing audio books. I don't really like audiobooks. I have always struggled with the voices and find they ruin my perception of the character. But this book has a full cast and it changes everything! EVERYTHING! Every audiobook deserves a full cast. If all audiobooks where like this I would definitely listen to more of them. 

On to the actual story... I love the two main characters in this book. Kady is spunky but also very clever. Ezra is hilarious. I absolutely love his sense of humour.

Kady goes through so so much in this book that by the end you forget that she is only a 17 year old girl. The things that she encounters, the emotional turmoil is absolutely harrowing and by the end she is no longer the same teenage girl she was.

The other character we should also talk about is AIDAN. Well what can we say about AIDAN? There is so much to say and yet so little I can share. He is such a quotable character.

This book is full of twists and turns I did not see coming. I absolutely loved every word which is weird to say when most of it was actually heartbreaking. These authors work so well together. The story is seamless and flows effortlessly.

As soon as I finished this book I downloaded the next audio in the series because I just could not leave it there.
