About this listen

The Galaxy is breaking up as the Confederation of Species fractures. Maauro and her new companion, Dassa, have reached their safe Inner Worlds and sold their fabulous cargo of gems, but restlessness plagues Maauro the AI. She seeks a greater purpose for her existence.

That purpose arrives twofold as she selects new crewmembers for the Seachange and learns of an expedition to an alien world on the periphery of known space, where traces of her ancient Creators have been found. But new and unexpected enemies dog the starlanes now, including the fabled Mystic Pirates.

Maauro in seeking a wider meaning to her existence, wants to create a new “network” of biologicals around her. Her recruiting focuses on a refugee camp where among others she selects a young boy who has withdrawn from war-torn reality into the fantasy that he is a robot. Seeing a mirror of her own questions about existence, she takes him under her wing. But can she help him answer questions that she, herself, has not resolved?

The second book of the Seachange series begins a new adventure and a unique peril for Maauro.
