About this listen
Inside Affair is book one of the Prime Time Series trilogy and must be listened to in order.
Xander
If I had to describe Sean Bailey, it would be: A surly, temperamental pain in my ass. Never in that equation would I ever include the word boyfriend - and not just because he’s straight.
The older brother of my life-long best friend, Sean is a detective for the Chicago PD, and is also known as Detective “Dick” for being...well, a surly, temperamental pain in everyone’s ass. He also happens to be the best they have, which is why I find myself on his doorstep the night my life is threatened by an anonymous stalker.
I only wanted the name of a bodyguard; I didn’t expect for Sean to volunteer for the job. Now, not only do I have a bodyguard, I also have a fake boyfriend.
Sean
It must be so hard to be Alexander Thorne, the number one prime-time news anchor in the country, with millions of dollars and a car that costs more than my house. I mean, I’m allowed to give him a hard time about it, but when some creep decides to cross the line and go after him, they’re gonna have to answer to me.
Going undercover has never been an issue in the past, so I don’t see why there’d be a problem now. Xander and I have known each other for years, so this should be a breeze. Except suddenly my stomach’s flipping when he looks my way, and my body comes alive whenever he brushes by me. I know I’m good at my job and playing a character and all, but this is getting out of hand.
I can’t be sure that either of us are playing anymore.

Great book!
I really loved this book. There were some very funny moments and the story kept me guessing until the end. The narrator was very good. I thought his voices for each character were distinct which allowed me to know who was speaking. I thoroughly enjoyed the book.

Frenemy’s to lovers romance.
Holy Hell ELLA!!!! How could you end it like that??
I absolutely loved this slow burn frenemy to lovers story. I was rooting for Sean all the way through. I didn’t like Xander so much at the beginning but he grew me when he started to accept that his feelings for Sean was changing. Sean was super sweet with Xander and once he made his mind up about them he totally made me swoon. I loved Charlie David’s narration as always. I can’t wait for the second book to be released after leaving us on such a big cliffhanger, just hoping that Sean and Xander get the hea that they both deserve.

Probably a good story
A good narrator makes all the difference to an audiobook, plus good editing and spacing between paragraphs and chapters. It was difficult at times to know which character we were hearing, as there is no difference in the voice or intonation by the narrator. One clue was, the cop did all the swearing, and there's alot. Having only one narrator impeded the drama and tension in what otherwise could've been a good story.
This book definitely needed a 2nd narrator either Christian Fox if he read Anchorman or Teddy Hamilton for the cop. There are narrators I avoid regardless of what they are reading as they spoil an otherwise good story. Charlie David was OK, and thank god is was not Michael Pauley.
This narrator made the cop sound like an over excited oaf instead of a cool professional. Part 1 ends of course on a major cliffhanger.
NOTE: this is Part 1 of a 3 part story, parts 2 and 3 are not released yet on Kindle, let alone on Audible, so it may be better to wait all parts being available to even start.
IF ANYONE AT AUDIBLE READS THESE REVIEWS, I would strongly recommend withdrawing this book, re-recording one of the characters to vastly improve this offering, and having them continue in parts 2 and 3. As It stands I will not bother with part 2 and 3.

Basic
Feels like baby's first bodyguard x protectee story. Everything but the two boys feels very bare bones and not very exciting or intriguing, which is too bad because the setting is interesting. The gimmick plot is an excuse to lock these frenemies into a fancy condo an have them develop feelings for each other.
Pretty harmless as far as a comfy romances go. Xander and Sean are very cute together and I'd like to see more of them, but the narrow scope of the story doesn’t compel me to continue unless I really have nothing better to buy.
The performance was good and after a while it wasn't too hard to tell the characters apart, but the sound quality wasn't the best, a bit too echo-y.

I was disappointed
The narrator Charlie David was the only reason that made me finish the book. Although it's well written it's just really boring. Not much happens. If you've read the blurb, than you've basically read the book. I hated how much it was dragged out at so many unnecessary points. I've only finished it last night and I couldn't tell you what happened.
