Summary
What can rowing across the Atlantic teach us about boredom and about patience?
Can coming down from Everest take more resilience than climbing up in the first place?
How can the isolation of the South Pole highlight what’s most important? And how can we tap into the same reflective state in our daily lives?
Writing during the unprecedented period of the coronavirus pandemic and drawing on a wealth of personal stories, Ben reflects on the significance of nature to all our lives and shows us how we can benefit from living a little more wild.
Drawing on his greatest adventures, he shares what his time spent in the wilderness has taught him about life. Ranging across seas, icecaps, jungles and deserts, Ben’s stories are filled with wonder and struggle, with animals, adventure, wilderness, friendships, unexpected acts of kindness and heroism, and are bursting with inspiration directly from nature. Ben’s epic stories reveal a new side to his adventures and show how everyone can find meaning in the wilderness, even if it’s just outside their front door.
Full of exciting adventures and practical guidance, this primer on positivity is a story about overcoming obstacles, surpassing your expectations and inspiring your journey of adventure.

Really enjoyed Ben’s stories
I’ve been a fan of Ben’s for 20 years, i love hearing his stories and have been inspired by him to over come my own challenges. I do think he has a wobbly screw to do half of what he gets up to and his wife deserves a medal but he is one of a kind, kindness being the biggest part of his charter that i’m sure is why we all enjoy following him.

Story
Ben Fogle
Ben is not just a posh, privileged individual.
He's courageous, and he's kind and thoughtful.
I can't believe that he receives negative comments to do with his origin and his public schooling.
Jealousy, Envy and Judgement are what the poor guy has to put up with. I would highly recommend the book. I learnt so much about Ben and I am amazed at all the adventures he's been on.
A life well lived, I'd say.

Great narration and an interesting read
I didn't know much about Ben Fogle and this book has definitely been an eye opener. I'm inspired to be less critical of others but I have to say after a strong start in the first half of the book it start to feel direction less.
Overall a good read, and the narration was excellent. I will seek out his other books now.

Excellent book
I bought on the back of reading Ben’s book about his ascent of Everest. This covers his life and his insight into how his life has been shaped over the years. It’s a book I would recommend anyone should buy as a physical book or one through Audible. Thanks Ben.

Inspiring
I’ve always been a fan of Ben Fogle. So I was keen to pick up this book and read it. I was not disappointed.
For me, Ben Fogle has a wonderful manner on television. This comes across brilliantly in this book - written during lockdown. There are plenty of lessons for young and old to take away. But wouldn’t it be lovely for every young person in the world to read this and take a piece of inspiration forward with them.

A good listen
If you like Ben’s TV shows, you live this. A naturalist look at modern life and how looking for happiness is more important than success. I enjoyed the examples from his life experiences but presume if you’ve read his other books these sections won’t be anything new for you. Overall I enjoyed it and his interesting, thought provoking ideas on how we should be happy for the simpler things in life.

I didn't want this to end
I loved this. I'm always a little sceptical of achievement and motivational books from those with a lot of family wealth and connections behind them, but I feel that Ben Fogle - whilst he has those things - really has achieved absolutely incredible feats that no money can buy. He is not given nearly enough recognition for what he has done. Things that would be life achievements for many are mentioned in passing as a training process or week long divergence. He is one of the world's truly great athletes.
It is also interesting to hear from someone who also has (or had) a vicious and cruel inner voice. Many people who seek to inspire others seem to come at it from a place of inner confidence, and not fall into the trappings of doubt that overcome many of us. Lucky them. This book is about how to confront that head on.
I will never climb Everest, or row the Atlantic - and I would never want to. However after listening to this audiobook it is making me think about what I do want to do, and how I might achieve that. And how to tell that mean and cruel inner voice to shut up.
Thanks Ben.
