Ms Suzanne Baars MA
About this listen
In this brief presentation to graduate students at Franciscan University in Steubenville, OH, Suzanne shares some intimate thoughts about her father, Dr. Conrad Baars, a Catholic psychiatrist who studied human nature and who was a prisoner in the Nazi concentration camp of Buchenwald. She gleans much inspiration from her father and his vast work experience, and seeks to answer the question, "Have you ever found it difficult to discern between what your 'heart' wants and what your 'head' wants?" She strives to provide an answer to that question by citing the teachings of St. Thomas Aquinas, along with some reflections from the Catechism of the Catholic Church. In essence, Suzanne speaks about how we can integrate our emotions, reason, and will in order to make the best decisions for ourselves. Ultimately, she strives to help the students discover the decisions that God wants for them. The presentation concludes with a question and answer session that proves very insightful. Suzanne Baars, author of "Made In His Image," is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor.
