About this listen

Detective Sara Hirst has moved from London to Norfolk Police's Serious Crimes Unit. Under the brooding skies of North Norfolk, Sara faces her toughest case yet and finds that great beauty sometimes conceals great violence.

Too many secrets. Too much pain. Too many leads.

Dawn breaks as a dog-walker finds a dead body, half-naked and wrapped tightly in an old groundsheet.

Sara is first on the scene.

Who is the victim? And who will be next?

Sara must take on some of Britain's most wanted criminals if she's to find out the truth.

Contains mature themes.

Unfortunate choice for voice actor

I had listened to the first book in this series and that voice actor had matched the story’s level of gravitas so decided to listen to this second book. What a disappointment. This reader’s childish voice and ridiculous attempt at male voices ruined the story for me, the voices were supposed to be depicting serious content but her high pitched silly intonations and strange pronunciations just made me regret using up the credit to listen to this book.

Great story - awful narration

Narrator awful - male voices drawled and all sounded the same except if they were young when they became squeaky. Drawers was pronounced 'draw-ers'. SOCOS pronounced Sohcohs....I could go on. Do not use this narrator again, please!

Good story

The narrator was very irritating. At times sounded like Joe Pascqale .Pronouciation of some words were strange eg draw er for draw . Her voice was not right for many of the characters it was like a school child was reading it .

Worst narrator ever!

The tiny babyish voice of the narrator is SO inappropriate for anything other than books for under fives. The pronunciation of many words was wrong and jarred.
Will be avoiding anything read by this narrator

Great story but let down by narrator

Very well written story but I didn’t like the childish voices used by narrator for some very tough characters.

A good story ruined by very poor narration!!

I have listened to and enjoyed Judi Dakin’s previous books but this story was really spoilt for me by the reader. Her pronunciation and characterisation was bizarre. I would have thought that Audible would have some sort of quality control system!!!

Disappointing

The narrator was different from the first book in the series and this spoilt my enjoyment of the book as the characters were not so clearly defined.

Disappointing

Looked forward to book no 2 in this series. Very disappointed. Story line dragged. Narration so bad had to stop listening. Some of the characters ( eg Bowen) are so high pitched they sound like a Donald Duck. Reader’s attempts to ‘voice’ different characters is so bad as to make this book un-listenable.
Truly awful.
