Summary

A Rough Trade Book of the Year

The Sunday Times bestseller

The much-anticipated first book from Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler

With over 70 million records sold, heavy metal pioneers Black Sabbath are one of the most influential bands of all time. From the very beginning, Geezer Butler was at the heart of their success. He named the group, provided the bass behind their distinctive sound and wrote the lyrics that resonated so powerfully with fans around the world.

At long last, Geezer is ready to tell his side of the Sabbath story, from early days as a scrappy blues quartet through to the many lineup changes, the record-breaking tours and the international hell-raising with Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi and Bill Ward.

Featuring Geezer’s candid reflections on his working-class childhood in Luftwaffe-battered Birmingham, his almost-life as an accountant and his fascination with horror, religion and the occult, Into the Void reveals the softer side of the heavy metal legend, while holding nothing back.

Like Geezer’s bass lines and the story of Black Sabbath themselves, Into the Void is original, dramatic and one hell of a ride.

The greatest autobiography from a bass giant

I thoroughly enjoyed listening. Geezer’s bass lines on Heaven & He’ll are right up there and I always wondered what kind of chap he is. The answer is awesome. Who’d want to be a rock star though!
I was hoping to hear about when in the early 1980s, Black Sabbath rented houses around Lichfield, Staffordshire. I remember Gloria and she was wonderful.
Brilliantly put together and what a story. I loved it.

Great listen 🤟

A fantastic listen and sits well with the Ozzy book and Iommi Book 🤟
Really fills in the blanks and gives another insight to all the tales.

Really honest and refreshing listen

I really enjoyed listening to Geezer telling his story. Honest and at times,
very witty appraisal of his life experience. Despite the rock n roll lifestyle, this man lived by his values (&still does).

Fantastic memoir and Sabbath memories

As a fan of Sabbath I looked forward to enjoying Geezers work after reading Tony Iommi and Ozzys books and thoroughly enjoyed this trip down memory lane. I love these bios and Geezers chilled out laid back narration style for me made it even better. Cracking book full of expected madness, mayhem and hilarious tales. A great bloke, bassist and metal legend as all Sabbath band members are. Very nice touch about Ronnie James Dio and adds to his late memory. Great memoir.

brought back memories

I grew up listening to Sabbath, my brother buying me their first album for my birthday, listening to Geezer brought back plenty of my own memories too.

the insight into each of their albums was fascinating and explains so much.

I'm glad Geezer narrated it, no one else could of done it justice.

Absolutely brilliant, a pleasure to listen to, and a very humble, honest, and yet immensely talented genre originator.
