About this listen
Irreversible Damage is an exploration of a mystery: Why, in the last decade, has the diagnosis "gender dysphoria", transformed from a vanishingly rare affliction, applying almost exclusively to boys and men, to an epidemic among teenage girls?
Author Abigail Shrier presents shocking statistics and stories from real families to show that America and the West have become fertile ground for a "transgender craze" that has nothing to do with real gender dysphoria and everything to do with our cultural frailty. Teenage girls are taking courses of testosterone and disfiguring their bodies. Parents are undermined; experts are over-relied upon; dissenters in science and medicine are intimidated; free speech truckles under renewed attack; socialized medicine bears hidden consequences; and an intersectional era has arisen in which the desire to escape a dominant identity encourages individuals to take cover in victim groups.
Every person who has ever had a skeptical thought about the sudden rush toward a non-binary future but been afraid to express it - this book is for you.

Brilliant and Timely - Essential Reading
A fascinating insight into the epidemic of sudden onset gender dysphoria sweeping pubescent girls and understanding why. Trans activists are review-bombing this book with 1-star ratings but don’t let that deter you. “It’s possible to live a transgender life if that’s what feel’s right. But it’s also possible to have thought you should, only to decide you’re wrong.”

Extremely Important reading
This publication will be panned by the left- though it already has experienced a strong push-back, I am yet to see a bad review that either held water against reality, or came from anything other than the rainbow-haired failure brigade.
Never before has a book so eloquently explained what my Father called "Unimaginable stupidity of Youth", and more worryingly this latest 'craze' has now dwarfed the previous contagions of 'look at me I'm mentally ill'- and 'I have an eating disorder'.
If this need is not stopped, if this stupidity of not wanting to be seen as not in support of it- is not spoken about openly - in the future thousands of mutilated youths will come to us asking "why weren't we stopped?'. And none of us will be able to answer.
More people believe in Bigfoot, than are (actually) Trans, yet no one in their right mind can imagine a world where Abominable Snowman hunters require bathrooms, Constitutional amendments or Law changes to protect them and their 'rights'.
The hysteria talked about in this book, is gutting our young people, and destroying the rights of Women, if it is not stopped pity the World we leave behind.
If I let my 9 year old Daughter so much as choose what she wants for dinner all hell breaks loose- but we are to believe that sexual organ mutilation, and irreversible hormone alteration should be considered or even suggested, should she pick up a fire truck instead of a doll?
I never thought grooming would become law.

Must read. Great narration.
Very informative interviews. Must read for people interested and for people experiencing this with their kids.
I wish there was more on prevention, besides remove the child from his environment completely once into that.
I wish there was more on social contagions and how they die down, maybe there are lessons to be learned from there.

Our Daughter's are being duped.
This book describes the world our teen Daughters inhabit, forced to accept their Female friends as Homosexual Boys, watch their Friends sell Testosterone as a feel good product, binding an exciting journey. When our Daughter's reject their friends stories of pure ecstasy their lives/looks/knowledge of Science are shred apart by an online of army of trans allies, the Girls transing are being duped as well as duping others.

A brave writer
I admire that Shrier had the courage to write this book. It raises a lot of difficult questions about bowing to the whims of teenagers and fads. I hope the book is allowed to be discussed publicly as it is not transphobic. The new wave of though police are truly frightening at the moment. I highly recommend this book

Essential reading for parents of young girls
This was exceptionally well researched and lays out very clearly the dangerous and damaging phenomena that is sweeping through the western world. My friend is going through this with her 16 year old and the girls described in this book are virtual carbon copies of my friends daughter. A perfectly normal, bright girl doing well at school who started to suffer from anxiety and depression when she hit puberty. Years of eating disorders and self-harm have now turned into changing her name, cutting off her hair and desperately wanting 'top surgery' as soon as she turns 18. It is horrifying and devistating that any girl would want to mutilate their body in this way and that surgeons are more than happy to oblige. As a mother of a 11 year old girl, I am now more acutely aware of the dangers from social media and trans influencers/activists and just hope I can protect her from this insanity.
