It was an absolute treat to listen to Julie Teal. I hadn’t realised who the narrator was when I downloaded the book. The story was good too.

Great book with great twists, just the right amount of chick flick romance, nice to hear a book that’s not just mush!!

Sue Moorcroft has written some wonderful books but some really boring ones -

'Is this Love'. First couple of chapters fine, then it got really dull. The injured girl was suppose to be 11 but seemed more like six. They go through yoga exercises and we get all the breath in, hold rather slowly repeatedly. Possibly the big problem was the narrators voice, she has a very flat voice with little or no intonation. I stuck with it to chapter 20 and give up

rather have my teeth pulled

I wouldn’t usually write a review on a book I’ve not finished but I couldn’t stomach any more than 3 hours. I gave it a fair chance to improve because the storyline had so much potential. However the portrayal of a young adult with learning difficulties was awful and upsetting and insulting stereotyping. Possibly wouldn’t have felt so strongly about it if the narrator hadn’t done such an awful job but given that we were supposed to believe that learning difficulties was simply having the mind of a 2yr old then she was maybe told to make her sound like one.

Had to stop listening
