Summary
Before It Ends with Us, it started with Atlas. Colleen Hoover tells fan favourite Atlas’s side of the story and shares what comes next in this long-anticipated sequel to the #1 Sunday Times bestseller It Ends with Us.
Lily and her ex-husband, Ryle, have just settled into a civil co-parenting rhythm when she suddenly bumps into her first love, Atlas, again. After nearly two years separated, she is elated that for once, time is on their side, and she immediately says yes when Atlas asks her on a date.
But her excitement is quickly hampered by the knowledge that, though they are no longer married, Ryle is still very much a part of her life—and Atlas Corrigan is the one man he will hate being in his ex-wife and daughter’s life.
Switching between the perspectives of Lily and Atlas, It Starts with Us picks up right where the epilogue for the bestselling phenomenon It Ends with Us left off. Revealing more about Atlas’s past and following Lily as she embraces a second chance at true love while navigating a jealous ex-husband, it proves that “no one delivers an emotional read like Colleen Hoover” (Anna Todd, bestselling author).

I was hooked!
I had only recently read 'It ends with us' so I was delighted to find this and really needed that story to play out. Such a lovely, heart warming read.

Everything it needed to be!
Amazing! Swoon worthy atlas swept me off my feet again, if men like him really existed I probably wouldn’t have ended up a lesbian!

Worth a listen
I didn't feel it was necessary but it was nice to listen to more about Atlas.

A beautiful story
A beautiful story can be like a bar of chocolate. Indulgent and delicious…but unnecessary.
Hoover’s writing is as wonderful as ever, but I believe wholeheartedly, as a storyteller myself, that a story needs to be worth telling. I enjoyed this story in the same way I enjoy watching old episodes of my favourite TV show. I know what’s going to happen, I know what the ending will be, but it’s comforting, familiar and doesn’t take too much mental effort to consume.
It lacked the impact, depth and complexity of the first book and didn’t present any new or particularly revelatory information. As many other reviews have stated, I kept waiting for the point or purpose (other than being a love story) to appear and it did not.
That said, I still very much enjoyed this book and I’m thankful we were gifted this next part of Lily and Atlas’s story.

Fantastic
A fantastic follow up to It Ends With Us. Not necessarily a needed follow up, but it was a nice HEA to Atlas and Lily’s story.
This was my first audio book experience and I enjoyed it.
I will however comment that the parts of communication where the female reader Olivia Song had to voice Atlas while reading the parts from Lily’s POV were terrible. She made it uncomfortable to listen while she was trying to sad masculine and it ruined the vibe for imagining Atlas. Colin Donnell’s performance was brilliant however.

Empowering
I enjoyed reading both of these books.
The books were written so well, you felt like you were there in the middle of it all.
I am so glad Lilly and Atlas get their happy ever after as well as Josh too.
I was sad when it ended, I think more could have been written. I wanted more about the wedding and the life after marriage. I also wanted to know if Ryle coparented better and if they could all be in the same room or not…
Overall, the books are amazing.. but there’s also potential for another little book to follow 🤞🏼

Very sweet romantic sequel
Lovely sequel. Nice to find out how it works out. Easy listen. A bit cheesy and American, I don’t think men talk that much about their feelings though. But that could be a cultural difference.
