Compelling Narrative of Ancient Japan!
I truly enjoyed listening to this audiobook. Despite working in Japan for two years, I never really looked into Japanese mythology. This audiobook gave me a deeper understanding and respect for Japanese culture. And Yes - it will have a more profound meaning when I visit a Shinto temple in the future. I especially enjoyed the legend of the Islands of Japan and the story of the Shinto deities. These stories, like Suzuno’s slaying of an 8-headed dragon and the discovery of a grass-cutting sword, add colour to the Japanese culture. The author also parallels Japanese culture with Indian and Celtic culture, which I had never imagined. This is entertaining, and I would love to listen to it again and again. Highly recommended!

Great book
This audiobook is like a time machine that whisks you away to ancient Japan! I was totally hooked from the start. What really blew my mind was how these old stories still pop up in modern Japan - it's like connecting the dots between the past and present. I'm not usually big on history stuff, but this had me glued to my headphones. It's perfect whether you're a Japan newbie or someone who's been into anime for years. The narrator's voice is super engaging too, making even the weirder parts easy to follow. By the end, I felt like I understood so much more about Japanese culture. The book is like you’ve stepped into the magical world of Japan’s ancient stories, filled with gods, heroes, and strange creatures. I love it !
Thisis like taking a magical trip back in time to old Japan. The book tells cool stories about gods, spirits, and real-life heroes. It's like listening to exciting bedtime tales, but with a touch of history. If you love myths and legends, or want to learn about Japanese culture, this book is a fun adventure! I would recommend giving it a listen !
