Katryn Jonis word van moord aangekla, maar sy kom agter die pro deo advokaat glo nie in haar onskuld nie en besluit dan om haar eie verdediging in die hof te behartig. Die vindingryke en berekende wyse waarop die reguit en passievolle Katryn die waarheid uit die staat se getuies in die hof trek, boei die leser deurgaans. Daar is baie vrae: Wie het dan die moord gepleeg, en hoekom? Hoekom het Abraham Klink en sy familie die Jonis-familie deur die jare so getreiter? Want waar Katryn en Salmon ook al geboer en gewoon het op die walle van die Grootrivier - by Kortdoorn, by Grootderm - daar het die Klinke hulle op ’n slinkse manier skade berokken. Totdat Katryn op ’n dag gedryf word tot optrede met ’n vreeslike nadraai. Omring deur vyandige getuies veg sy vir haar lewe in ’n hof in Kaapstad.

Searingly honest
This book really is remarkable.. it faces teh South african situation head-on, with integrity and dignity. I don't want it to end... and the reader/narrator is superb as well. can't recommend this book more highly.

Aangrypend
Hierdie boek word nie sommer net neergesit nie. Die verhaal is aangrypend en neem mens op reis na 'n ander plek. Onvoorspelbaar, kwitsig en spannend. 'n Treffer!
