About this listen

"The painting forced him to move back with such suddenness, he nearly fell over the side of the old wooden railing. It depicted a grizzly scene, as if your worst nightmare had been splattered on canvas. Despite his mind screaming to look away, he could not avert his eyes".

Ancient Keyport Cthulhu

Five stories with a Lovecraftian feel to them…set in the New Jersey fishing village of Keyport, where the Esoteric Order of Dagon has been planning for the awakening of the Deep One all these years... ANCIENT BARREN CABAL DAGON EVIL Includes two bonus stories, the steampunk tale "Rats In The Cellars" and "Cthulhunicorn" co-written with Katelynn Rosamilia.

I'm not sure why but but I quite enjoyed this! The writing and that character development sometimes left me eye rolling in sheer irritation but it had actually had some (unintentional?) hilarious dialogue that definitely warranted a playback! I almost kinda wanted to hate this as I've always seen myself as a Lovecraft 'purist' but I actually really vibed with this. The ending was really abrupt with a lost of questions left unanswered, and with the addition of the 2 extra unconnected stories following right after I was left confused to actually WHERE it had ended! This said tho, this was a fun little ride and I'm currently listening to the second in the series that literally picks up right after the weird abrupt cliffhanger.

Fun, easy but slightly confusing listen!
