Another very well researched yarn from the Wilbur Smith Library. Very interesting, beautifully written but rather predicable in the end. I look forward to the next installment.

Another great African Story

This book takes place within the book 'Triumph of the sun' and gives more attention to some of the strong female characters. The story is very good, but readers of 'Triumph of the sun' need to suspend their disbelief to squeeze this tale into the original...it doesn't quite fit in my opinion. It also has a slightly diluted feel to it compared to other Wilbur Smith books...not as tense or (strange thing to say) cruel. This may be because we know what happens to all the main characters in the end since they have to slot neatly back into the other story and because the book was co-authored. All in all a good book and well worth the listen, but be prepared for a slightly different experience.

It was great to hear about the continued story of the Banbrook sisters, Ryder & Penrod after so long. Great story telling as usual - long may it continue.

A brilliant saga that has caused me many lost hours of sleep as a I just could not stop listening. The end is quite obvious but it doesn't distract from the rollercoaster of the story. Excellent narration.

Unparalleled adventure. Wilbur Smith at the peak of his powers providing insight into the great civilisation of Ethiopia . Instead of the current media portrayal of starving children, you realise what a proud great nation it is . A fascinating spiritual journey for one of teh main characters from evil to good. Evil villains and amazing heroes . However, not a true Wilbur classic as a lot of the book was written by Imogen Robertson

If you like Wilbur Smith then you will enjoy this story. Just wish the very English narrator didn’t attempt any non English accents as they sounded very Allo Allo.
