Summary
Betrayal by friend and foe alike beset Sir John Hawkwood as he enters the murky world of Italian politics.
He will emerge from the experience as a true leader of men but first he has to outwit his enemies of which there are many. With Montferrat secured from the Savoyards and with the White Company now firmly in his hands, Sir John Hawkwood leads his men to Pisa where they have been hired to fight the Florentines. The hero of Poitiers is about to enter a world of treachery, intrigue and double dealing for which he is quite unprepared. It is where he learns to lead and finds the true worth and mettle of the men he leads, the White Company.

Action packed!
Loved it! Great narration brought characters to life. Fantastic story as always with author Griff Hosker.

terrific series
I've finished the 4 available books on audible and throughly enjoyed, I just hope book 5 will be available on audible soon.
Big fan of Christian Cameron and this is as good. a great deal of research has gone into the story, told in the description of a soldiers daily life, thier equipment etc. there are duals, skirmishes, and full on battles, woven through an age where knights were hardly noble, and Kings abandoned thier men when war was over, so men became mercenaries or bandits, and citizens became the usual casualties.
narration is good but there are better.

just heroic fiction
If your looking for a more historically based book series, this isn't it. The history in these books are very thin.
The main character is very one dimensional and flawless, atheist by his own words.
