Summary
Roommates. Best friends. Boyfriends?
Theo and Laurie have been best friends for six years, but despite doing everything together, they’ve never been anything more than best friends and roommates.
Then someone calls them boyfriends and upends their neat little world.
As the pair struggle to put a lid on their feelings, a random email from Theo’s brother throws him even further off balance, and all Laurie can do is offer a niche form of stress relief. But Laurie’s support doesn’t stop at rope garters. Once the two of them fall into bed, it’s clear things will never be the same between them.
Now, Theo and Laurie must finally address the feelings they’ve tried to hide from and figure out if they really are just friends, or if there’s always been something more between them. Can they give each other everything they ever wanted?
Like I Wanted is a steamy best friends to lovers contemporary MM romance, featuring a femme boy who loves zombie horror and weird taxidermy, a goth with a secret love of shibari, interfering adult entertainers, a vicar who takes no s--t, and a quest for guinea pigs.
It is the fifth and final novel in the Heather Bay series, and is best enjoyed as part of the series.
Please note that one of the MCs is involved in adult entertainment and chooses to remain working in the industry, with the full consent of his partner, once they’re in a relationship. For more information, please see the internal Author’s Note.

An end to a favorite series
I loved Theo and Laurie’s HEA - the goth and the princess, but both with such incredible depths and complexities. Beautifully written by Charlie Novak and beautifully performed by Dan Calley. I know we will see more of Heather Bay in the future and I just can’t wait!

Absolutely wonderful series conclusion
Every book in this series has been a winner, but there's something special about this one and the characters of Theo and Laurie. The foundation they have built for their relationship is rock solid because they've been best friends forever, and while those around them have noticed it turning into more, they haven't until the events of this book. It's wonderful to see them negotiating the change in their relationship and figuring out exactly how they now "work" together and the amount of care and respect each shows for the other's feelings and desires is just wonderful to see. Dan Calley does a superb job with this story and hearing these two come alive was amazing.

Finally!!!
MM, Opposites Attract, Best Friends/Roommates to Lovers, Small Town, Contemporary, Romance, fast paced plot, action packed. The fifth and final book in the series and while it can be enjoyed as a standalone I recommend the whole series as you get glimpses of the MC's throughout the series. light angst, high heat, light kink, wit and humour and so so much steam, cuteness and a guaranteed HEA

Theo and Laurie are absolutely perfect for each other!
Best friends and roommates to lovers. Theo and Laurie may seem opposites in many way on the surface, but they just clicked from their first meeting. After years of close friendship and living together, lines are so blurred that everyone just assume they are a couple. But they are so in denial that when one of their friends tell them so, their heads sort of explode and a journey of self-awareness and acknowledging of their feelings ensues.
I adored sunny, sweet but snarky, pastel-coloured Theo and goth, steady Laurie with his dom tendencies.
The book is sweet and funny, but also every, very steamy and it’s a great way to close this wonderful series!

The end
Story: Sad to see the series go, but it ends on a high note! Laurie and Theo were a great couple to mark the finish for sure. Friends to lovers story with all the right feels, charming backstory and fun characters.
Definitely a good comfort re-read candidate!
Narration: Great voice and good acting skills. Just what you would expect.
