About this listen

The first novella set in the universe of James S. A. Corey's epic Captive's War series.

Humanity's war is eternal, spread across the galaxy and the ages. Humanity's best hope to end the endless slaughter is the Livesuit forces. Soldiers meld their bodies to the bleeding edge technology, becoming something more than human for the duration of a war that might never end.

Brilliantly easy to get into

Having read the previous saga I am ready to commit to more from S A Corey, no questions asked. The first book was a bit tricky given the gear shift from the previous work and I liked the time it took to get its ducks in a row. This Book however had a different flavour from the get go. it’s a massive tease putting out a short story like this but it is masterfully written, the characters and world form swiftly and are incredibly real and believable, the plot is always teasing, questions are asked but not answered here and you will never see the ending coming. I want more! The narrator, Mays, is sublime. I loved it.

Solid DLC

A nice stand alone story. Possibly a bit too predictable but lovely prose and and wonderful performance.

A soulful story but slightly disappointing

Livesuit is a great snapshot into an aspect of The Captive's War universe that we haven't yet seen. It's a soulful and contemplative look at the front line of a technologically driven war and what the impacts might be for those involved, it's a good book. The "haven't seen yet" part is what triggers the mild disappointment, after "The Mercy of Gods" I eagerly spent a credit on Livesuit not realizing that it is a very shot interim novella rather than either a continuation of the main story arc or a separate novel introducing a new part of the arc. This was my mistake of course but I suspect I wasn't alone in this error. I look forward to finding out what happens next with the Dafyd and the workgroup.

Short with a big punch

I think like everything Jefferson mays reads and everything James SA Corey writes. Their work is such an amazing mix of warm humans in the coldness of space.

Engaging short story

I really enjoyed this. I probably preferred it to Mercy of God's which I had just finished. It stands on its own so you don't need prior knowledge of its parent book. Short, sweet with an excellent story line and engaging characters. More please

live suits remind me of WH40K and the grim aspects of Mechanicus technology.

Very cool concepts, I'm really hoping that the Live suits get a lot more lore.

Short novella

The story’s premise is interesting and somewhat novel. But the storytelling was not as inspired as some other space Opera books . I’m also not a big fan of this narrator.
