Editor reviews

Making Things Better: The Flow of Communication by Tarthang Tulku, an acclaimed Tibetan teacher who now lives in the United States, is a Buddhist approach to building the personal foundations for clear communication. Tulku acolyte Arnaud Maitland performs the text in a gently insistent lecture style.

In simple terms and recognizable metaphors, Tulku explains that clarity of mind and awareness are preconditions for good communication, and good communication itself consists of Clarity, Intelligence, Care, and Patience (also called Sensitivity). Specific lessons are intended to move the listener toward achieving the ability to communicate clearly, and gaps in the text are included to give the listener time to practice mindfulness. While certain Buddhist phrases and expressions are used, the lecture is intended for a lay audience.
