About this listen

The Black Death! England has won the war with France, but the disease which rampages through the land takes both rich and poor, warrior and worker. John Hawkwood and his two companions spend the winter in the north.

It is in the spring that he begins to mould his company into a fighting force, and he serves the Baron Mortimer on the Welsh Border. There his men learn to fight as one, and John Hawkwood begins the change from archer to man at arms.

When the king and the Black Prince commission him to fight for them, first in an action against the Castilian pirates and then on a chevauchée through Gascony, he learns the skill of leadership.

excellent story with good narration, characters voices were a little off but other than that an enjoyable adventure.

Although very 'bloody' and extremely violent the author has done it again...a story just believable during the 100 years war. I look forward to the next episode.

Good series

If your looking for a more historically based book series, this isn't it. The history in these books are very thin.
The main character is very one dimensional and flawless, atheist by his own words.

just heroic fiction

Absolutely awful!
I guess it's fine if you want the title character to be an all out 80's action hero, who solves all problems, cures plagues and is the greatest at everything and anything. If you want even the slightest touch of anything more realistic or meaningful, then move along. It doesn't even give historical accuracy a nod in it's vague direction.

Avoid. Avoid. Avoid.

Dreadful
