About this listen
A secret has been revealed, and others will follow.
After a terrible revelation, Alex Roth must unlearn everything he knows of Thameland and the cycle of the Ravener, all the while hunting for the hidden priests of Uldar’s Rise.
As the First Apostle prepares to destroy the Fool, the villain receives an unexpected ally. Meanwhile, Alex himself has received new information about his Mark…information that could utterly change his life-path.
But he cannot keep his identity hidden forever. Not anymore.
Who will have the last laugh? Alex Roth? Or the grinning face of the Fool?
Book eight of the best-selling series. Continue your fantastical journey into a coming-of-age magic academy fantasy with a weak-to-strong progression into power, deepening mystery, a setting inspired by D&D, detailed world building and magical science, action, comedy, slice-of-life, and GameLit elements.

The main character
I love the way the main develops logically step by step with a plan In mind and the results are glorious to imagine 😁

Very abrupt ending
On the one hand, Clarke pumps these books out at an ungodly speed so at least we aren't likely to wait long for the ninth installment. Nevertheless, this entry didn't feel like a complete "episode" in the same way most of the others did. I was very surprised it ended where it did and not after the building confrontation.
Not a terrible contribution to the series but felt a little bit like filler in places.
Travis was superb as usual

I wish it was 100hrs long
I was so enraptured in this book that when it ended I was very very upset!
As always travis baldree is amazing. I really enjoyed the writing, was very clear cut and everything seemed perfect in terms of pacing

the ending of the books feels like a end of the chapter and mistimed
i genuinely think it would of been a better ending for the book to have finished after the king stuff, even if it would of been alot shorter as that was a whole cimplete story. it feels like the last third of the book is it entering a new arc with only the prologue being finished so it ended with a the beginning of a new story which feels weird

Another cracking well paced story, breathed to life by the amazing VA.
Another sterling effort, brought to life in the performance. It's great to see how the Roth family have grown. Just painful to know there's only 2 books to go.

A bland entry to the series with sparks of great emotion.
to star with the good, there where several scenes that where very emotionally written, do so well and to cause me to tear up a little.
Now on the the bad, overall nothing happened of substance. many plot points moved forwards a bit but for the most part no conclusions where found.
Thinbook also had a habit of repeating already known information or the details of a sentence again the very next paragraph.
"I see you have done A because of B, how nice"
greatly done I have mentioned A as it highlights A and by mentioning B it shows I know B is a consequence. they should like me more now as A leads to B.
