About this listen

Peopled with a wonderful collection of warm, wicked and weird characters, Vic Reeves’ memoir is an enchanting, surreal and utterly hilarious comic gem.

COMIC MASTERPIECE FROM ONE OF THE
BIGGEST NAMES IN BRITISH HUMOUR.

Vic, or Jim as he was known, grew up just like any other boy – terrified of his father’s immense moustaches, obsessed with owning his own crow and a master at writing his own name. Early brushes with evil prams, exploding model aeroplanes and consumption are soon swept away as Vic careers towards adulthood in this brilliant memoir of whimsical reminiscences and flighty invention.

Love Vic Reeves! this is fun and brilliantly narrated. Only thing didn't realize it was abridged, but we'll worth £3

enjoyably different

I've ended up reading a lot of mens memoirs recently, and this was a welcome change to the obligatory ramblings about how the hair of their childhood crush looked in various lights for chapter after chapter. This book is far less indulgent than all that, and so far more enjoyable. Jim does a fantastic job of picking out the bits of his youth that are actually entertaining to listen to. Loved it.

As funny as you would hope.

It says abridged but it's long enough. Can't wait for volume two to come out.

Brilliant book

I've read this book before and loved it, so decided to get it on Audible. Vic Reeves really brings it to life. It starts off as you would imagine, lots of surreal flights of fantasy. As the book goes on I think he starts to enjoy the biography side of story telling, and although still surreal in parts he gives us a great account of he's childhood around the North East.

is it fact or is it fiction?Maybe a bit of both

First off Jim is an incredible story teller who will have you laughing out loud on a regular basis, his delivery is fantastic & I'd happily listen to him read a phone book. This is a collection of stories and tales from his days growing up in the North East of England which will remind you of the daft stuff you did as a kid in your town plus give you an insight into the man he has become and the career he developed.

“I heard that rumour…”

Loved it, funny and surreal in places. Jim/Vic is a genius and a national treasure. I loved reading about where it all started.

Love Vic, Jim, Rod

Always been a fan of let’s call him Vic, since I first saw him on tv. Although most of my peers couldn’t get what to me was hilarious and still is to this day.
Loved the book. Very funny.
More please

He wouldn't let it lie

Marvellous ramblings, my only gripe - why abridged, why not the whole? Even so, I enjoyed this very much indeed.

At last. A really funny book.

Jim narrates his autobiography (part the first). A tale of much mirth and jolliness. Plenty of "laugh out loud" stories and anecdotes.
The book covers his years through childhood school and early employment. A career in music diverts him to London in search of fame and fortune.
I am looking forward to Me Moir part the second.
