Summary

The characters and events portrayed in this book are fictitious. Any similarity to real persons, living or dead, is coincidental.

The fiction world of today needs a “Saint” more than it ever did. For years now that scene has been dominated by the “anti-heroes"—those grim gray operators in a sunless sub-culture where global issues are worked out with totally unemotional pragmatism, those hapless uninspired puppets manipulated and expended by ruthlessly dedicated little brothers of Big Brother. It made morbidly fascinating narrative, but it never gave anyone a lift until it climaxed in the hyper-gadgeted parodies of 007 extravaganzas. That there will always be a public old-style hero, who had a clear idea of justice, and a more than technical approach to love, and the ability to have some fun with his crusades. Listen and enjoy.

Not the best Saint audiobook novel I've heard.

This is the first Saint novel, and thus, I was eager to listen to it, but it was such awful reading that I couldn't enjoy it. I'm a big fan of Leslie Charteris' works. I have heard a few of your Saint audiobooks and have the complete sixties Roger Moore Saint series on DVDs. I will never buy another audiobook with this narrator, John Rayburn, again.

Big letdown

been looking forward to this audio release for sometime. unfortunately what was a good story has been let down by a very poor audio transfer. monotonous and lost in translation as English words have been read by a North American who has read several words whole that would have some silent pronunciation, ie gh as g and whole and place names being butchered. into American English.
very disappointed.

poor performance

Bring back John Telfor. the other saint books superbly read and a great listen with the characters coming to life. This is NOT that. It's bad I'm sorry to say. I listened to the whole thing so I could actually hear a book I've wanted to listen to for a long time. To have the patience of a saint is what is required in order to listen to this book. There is nothing wrong with the writing. Charteris is just an amazing writer especially when it comes to the saint. Not one of the best Saint books but does set up the story of Patricia. A main train for listening to the book. But, oh how much different this could be with Telfor reading it. If he ever does tread it I will be sure to listen again. This version will Not be. Sorry

The narrator I assume is as

I love this book and so looked forward to listening to it, but while the story has not changed. This version due to the narrator is just terrible.
A good narrator sell the book. This is expressionless.
Poor avoid this narrator
