Summary
Brody’s got enough on his plate.
Recovering from a knee injury he hopes won’t keep him off the ice. His team, the Portland University Evergreens, have a brand new coach, and he’s hoping to impress the legendary leader. Plus, he's got to make a decision once and for all about playing professional hockey or using his love of science to go a totally different direction.
The last thing he needs is a sexual awakening at the large, calloused hands of his football player roommate.
Dean is big and brawny and taciturn, but he doesn’t need to words to woo Brody. He wants Dean, even if he thought he was straight. And Dean? Doesn’t matter that he’s never hooked up with a guy before, either.
They’re discovering new pleasures every night, while pretending during the day that they’re just roommates.
Except the heat burns so hot between them, it doesn’t just melt all the ice on Brody’s rink, it melts all his beliefs about who he is and what he wants.
But even more, it destroys the lie that he can’t fall hard for a guy. Because Brody is falling hard for Dean, and he discovers he’s not alone.

Great start to the series

Roommates
Hockey/football player romance
Both think they are straight
Brody is a hockey player back from an ACL tear. He was actually drafted but he is also smart and turned it down to get a science major and is debating what he should do. Brody is rich but is looking forward to sharing an apt with his friend who is also a hockey player but is surprised to see his friend ditched him and leased his room to a football player stranger instead. Brody says he's straight but definitely notices how hot Dean is right away.
Dean is a football player who is studying physical education as a back up plan but would give anything to get to the NFL. He also claims to be straight and although he has no questioning thoughts, he quickly jumps on board when Brody asks to experiment.
Darcy did a great job with the narration. He had a pleasant reading voice. I did speed it up alot but I enjoyed the easy flow of the narrator. He expressed all the emotions wonderfully and brought the story to life.
This was an enjoyable story. The 2 MCs were great together and we're both loveable characters. This was an easy read with no angst and a medium steam. I couldn't give it 5 stars as the plot is very uneventful. Still the relationship development made it a really good story. It was a great start to this new series and I'm looking forward to the future books. The world building and side characters were all great.
The narrator did a fantastic job. He had a pleasant reading voice and kept a good flow. He expressed all the emotions wonderfully and brought the story to life. He gave all the characters including the side characters distinct voices that suited them perfectly and it made it a pleasure to listen to.

When life throws you a curve ball
Story: A brilliant take on tackling difficult life choices and exploring new possibilities with the right people. I loved how mature the MCs were in their relationship and how the author approached the theme of professional sports and the path to the career.
Narration: Very good performance!

Sweet Exploration
A great romance between a hockey player and a football player who wind up being unexpected roommates.
Brody is returning from an injury which has left him a little adrift over what he wants for his future. Meanwhile, Dean is singularly focused on ‘making it’. It’s his way to a better future.
What starts as a tentative living arrangement, blossoms into some lovely exploration. And a beautiful friendship. They are both kind, attentive and wonderfully supportive.
I really enjoyed these two discovering themselves and a bright future.
It also introduces us to some new characters to fall in love with.
The audiobook is narrated by fan favourite Darcy Stark who is well familiar with Beth’s work and always delivers a wonderful experience.

I loved it!
I read this book with my eyes only a couple of weeks ago and I loved it. Listening to Darcy Stark perform the audiobook made me love it all over again. Below is my original review.
I loved this book. It’s a double bi-awakening, roommates-to-friends-to-lovers story with first times and heat. Both MCs have a lot on their plates and decisions they must make. Brody has to decide if an NHL Hockey career is what he really wants and Dean has to decide if he’s willing to take the risk of rejection and let Brody in.
This book gave me all kinds of feels. There were a lot of tender moments between Dean and Brody but there were also touching moments between Brody and his teammates. I loved how it was no big deal to anyone – Brody’s parents and both of their teams – when they came out as a couple. The epilogue set 18 months into the future was perfect. I can’t wait to read the next book!

sweet college sports story
This was a really good college sports story about two boys finding themselves and each other.
Brody is returning to college and hockey team after a knee injury. He's nervous about going back and it isn't helped that he thought he was moving in with his team mate but it turns out his new roommate is broody football player Dean. It takes a bit of adjustment for them both but they slowly become friends and they find out they are chemistry between them after they kiss which leads them to exploring together. They are good for each other. Brody is struggling with his future. He knows he wants to be a doctor but he has been drafted but he isn't sure he wants to be a professional hockey player but Dean is a good support for him. Dean on the other hand knows he wants to be a professional football player but he is very closed off but Brody helps him relax and enjoy himself and have a support system. I really enjoyed this story.

Beth Bolden’s sports romances are simply the best!
Mind you, I know absolutely nothing about hockey, and even less about football, but I get completely involved with this author’s characters. Brody and Dean start up as roommates, two supposedly straight jock bros wanting nothing more than to concentrate on their respective sport and study, and just having another athlete roommate who can understand their needs. Turns out their need is not only to balance out their athletic and college life, but soon they find themselves curious about the other in more physical ways. A friends with benefit arrangement is all they both can commit to, and after all’, it’s only lust, isn’t it? Yeah, we all know how well that usually works…
Amazing performance by Darcy Stark, as always. He really brings all the characters to life with amazing talent.
