About this listen

A Girl. An Earl. A Battle of Wits . . .

Miss Amelia Fleming has a very good reason to hate the Earl of Langley. A year ago, her father drowned in the Thames after losing a fortune to Langley at cards. Now her family is broke, her fiance has broken their engagement, and the debt still hasn't been paid. Someone has to deal with the earl, but Amelia's brother doesn't have the nerve and her mother has fled to France. It's no business for a gently bred young lady, but the Earl of Langley is about to learn that Amelia Fleming is not your typical young lady . . .

Miss Fleming Falls in Love is a sweet, sparkling Regency romp about a misunderstood nobleman who meets his match in a spirited and unconventional heroine. Perfect for fans of Georgette Heyer and Bridgerton!

The narration is just awful!

The wooden narration does the story no favours. A more talented narrator would have made this witty story a lot of fun.

poor narration, good story

Poor, mechanical narration. Particularly irksome was the proununciation of.Cliveden, which in english is pronounced as Clivden, despite the spelling. Good story which bounces.along with some witty dialogue...

Enjoyable

I really enjoyed this gentle, heartwarming tale. This was neither too “fast”, nor too “conventional” (to be honest, it was “almost” distasteful - you’ll understand when you get to grips with the mother)!

Miss Fleming and Lord “Stoneheart” are the most honourable characters in the book (oh and Amelia). I enjoyed this because it’s NOT a Quinn, Barrough or the like. It’s not Heyer, but no one is, this is just a gentle, amusing Regency tale, with engaging characters (for the most part).

The narrator was intriguing. He didn’t get everything right! Some of his mispronunciations were strange and some of his sentence structures, misplaced. Not enough to spoil the story, but enough to be noticeable on the few occasions when they occurred.

This was an enjoyable read.
