About this listen
It is autumn 1916, and Great Britain is at war with Germany.
Stylish lady detective Miss Isabel Hewitt is approached by Joe Williams, the husband of her friend, the music hall artist, Dilly Gosling. Dilly has gone missing, and Joe asks Isabel to find her. Isabel agrees, embarking on a journey that takes her to the Front in Northern France, where she is reunited with her manservant, Clarke, and later, down to Hastings on the south coast.
But the missing link eludes her. She must face real personal danger before the matter is resolved. She is assisted and hindered in her investigation by her friend Elvira Stone, who is currently staying with her.
