Summary

Murder wasn't supposed to be on the menu at the Little Dog Diner, but that's exactly what we got served anyway.

Hi, I'm Dani Mackenzie and I'm the unfortunate soul who owns said diner. Looks like business is going to be slow for a little while as the whole town scrambles to find whodunnit.

At first I just needed something to keep me busy while on my forced vacation, but now as the clues stack up, I'm caught in the middle of this crazy mixed-up murder. And I'll do anything to get to the bottom of what really happened and why it happened in my kitchen.

Too bad the only known witness to the crime is the victim's terrier, Pip, and no one believes she bludgeoned her owner to death. But if not her...then who? And, perhaps more importantly, who's next?

A funeral and a murder

This started unusually and I must admit I never really trusted the quirky best friend because of it. The story didn't really felt like a first in the series and I had to check I hadn't missed any previous books because the characters obviously had a history that wasn't really explained, just hinted at. Otherwise I did like the story and of course the cute puppy Pip. The mystery was complicated with the twists and turns it took but as long as you were on your toes it does play out nicely. I will be joining them on there next case.
Dani joins her best friend Lily in attending her soon to be ex husbands funeral only to get a big surprise. But the surprise is still to come when Dani finds his body in her Little Dog Diner. With the Murder weapon her special rolling pin and the diner closed until further notice, it's up to Dani to find the killer. Lily inherits his business and soon the pair has a number of suspects to investigate, including an old flame of Dani's. Can they find the killer amongst so many suspects? when the only clue is a earring and a witness who can only bark.
I liked the narrator. She made the characters come alive.
