This is a very American, small town, police thriller. The action is continuous, as is the reiteration as to the dangers about to be encountered. The super macho hero dominates the novel like a character from an online shoot-em-up game. There is nothing subtle here, no nuisances, just start to finish raw action. As an avid crime novel reader I found some parts a little 'clumsy' but forgivable to keep the action moving at a high pace. All told, an enjoyable audiobook.

I enjoyed the narration of Steve Schaeffer

Sheriff Matt Deal and his family have just moved to Cut Bank, Montana. The town looks peaceful. He soon discovers that the small town has a dark history of police corruption and murder. It soon leads him the powerful family that runs the town. Matt is determined to restore Cut Bank to its former peace and quiet.

This is a very good book. One which I enjoyed listening to immensely. Full of action and intrigue all the way through to an ending I just didn’t see coming, not at all. I wonder if the author gets these ideas from his own career. On to the next one. Cannot wait. Highly recommended listen.
