About this listen
When 18-year-old Winter McCall is offered a chance to leave her life of poverty on the streets of London behind, she reluctantly accepts and moves to a remote part of the southwest of England. There she takes up the job as housekeeper to the young and handsome, yet mysterious, Thaddeus Blake.
Warned that he has some curious habits, Winter soon realizes that all is not as it firsts appears at the remote mansion where she now lives and works.
Blind to the real danger that she is in, Winter finds herself becoming attracted to Thaddeus.
With nowhere to run and no one to turn to, she slowly succumbs to his strange requests. But none of them are as strange as his requests for her to stand, each night, in the moonlight.
©2012 Tim O'Rourke (P)2015 Tim O'RourkeAs for the narration by Anna Parker-Naples; when I first started listening I found her voice a bit dull .... However as the story continued I actually enjoyed the way she changed voices and expressed panic, worry, fear, longing and many other emotions by adjusting her tone and speed at just the right moment. I would quite happily read another story that was written or narrated by them!
A MUST READ!

This book is not what I expected, but I’m starting to get used to that having read other books by this author. Winnie, a feisty girl who lives on the streets is brought to a large house in the country by Thaddeus Blake as his housekeeper. She suspects that something about the situation is very wrong but never in her wildest dreams did she imagine the terrors that found her.In this twisted tale of love, revenge and fear, the author keeps us guessing until the very last page. Winnie isn’t completely naïve but innocent and as a reader you root for her to find the truth, find a way to survive. This is a very eerie and wintry tale, and I thoroughly recommend the audio version.
