About this listen

A girl’s worst nightmare is her mother....

Priscilla Martin. She’s the diva of Morning Glory Circle, and a driving force in the quaint California town of Snapdragon. Overseer of garage sales and neighborhood Christmas decorations, she is widely admired. But few people know the real woman behind the perfectly coiffed hair and Opium perfume.

Family is forever. And ever and ever....

No one escapes Prissy’s watchful eye. No one, that is, except her son, who committed suicide many years ago, and her daughter, Claire, who left home more than a decade past and hasn’t spoken to her since. But now, Priscilla’s daughter and son-in-law have fallen on hard times. Expecting their first child, the couple is forced to move back.... And Prissy is there to welcome them home with open arms...and to reclaim her broken family.

The past isn’t always as bad as you remember. Sometimes it’s worse....

Claire has terrible memories of her mother, but now it seems Priscilla has mended her ways. When a cache of vile family secrets is uncovered, Claire struggles to determine fact from fiction, and her husband, Jason, begins to wonder who the monster really is. Lives are in danger - and Claire and Jason must face a horrifying truth...a truth that may destroy them...and will forever change their definition of Mother.

Chilling

Such a great listen! I was hooked from the beginning with an intriguing story and engaging characters, I had trouble putting down my headphones! Narrator was fantastic and really captured the emotions of the characters and mood of the story. Perfect for fans of V.C. Andrews with a truly awful villain. I received a free review copy of this audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

OMG, this is an awesome awesome read!

I was a little daunted at the 19 hours of listening it would take to finish this book, but once I started I hated deposit. This book was so so freaking awesome it’s about a cul-de-sac and at the top of the cul-de-sac it’s a big white house where Priscilla Martin lives and she is the head of the women’s auxiliary and the head of the neighborhood group and a bossy controlling abusive underhanded scheming no good always put together and always smelling like opium perfume woman. She married Franklin Martin and when he died in Vietnam was pregnant for their son Timothy and then she said her sights on Franklin his twin brother who was married but lucky for Presley Fred’s wife unfortunately died and because Fred felt sympathy for Little Timmy growing up with no father he decided to marry Priscilla. That is when they had little Carline and despite moving away changing her name to Claire and not speaking to her mother since before they met her husband Jason thinks it’s a great idea since it fell on hard times to go and live with Priscilla. After Claire tries to stress to him the type of woman she is, he believes she is overstating the situation and maybe she’s changed and she should give her mother a second chance. She eventually caves and this is where the story gets really good…

What makes the story so good is she not only manipulates and tries to control Claire and her husband but she manipulates and tries to control everyone from the mayor of snapdragon to all her neighbors on the cul-de-sac. I absolutely love this book and can’t wait to read more by these authors and even though this book is 19 hours long trust me when I say it goes by in a flash. It is so freaking good all I can say is you need to get this book if you like domestic dramas thrillers and dysfunctional families read this book!
