About this listen

A gripping British cosy crime mystery with a mysterious death and a village full of secrets...

MAISIE COOPER IS NO DETECTIVE, THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

BUT SHE MIGHT JUST SOLVE A MURDER...

Maisie left the picture-perfect village of Framlington years ago. But when her brother asks for her help out of the blue she soon finds herself back among the windy lanes and open green fields. But it's not the family reunion she hoped for - upon arrival she learns that she's too late. Stephen is dead. And not just dead - murdered.

Frustrated by the slow police investigation headed up by handsome Sergeant Wingard, Maisie determines to start asking questions herself. In a village where everyone knows everyone, surely someone has some information about Stephen. But the longer Maisie stays, and the deeper she digs, the more she begins to sense something sinister at the heart of the village. What secrets are the residents so desperate to keep hidden? And what exactly was her brother going to tell her before his mysterious demise?

And when another death rocks the community, Maisie fears that she needs to catch the killer before they catch her...

Fantastic!

Really enjoyed this book! The narration was great, the plot was good, and the characters were charming (even the un-charming ones).

Maisie Cooper is a wonderful character.

This is a well written intriguing story set in a very recognisable period of the 1970's in England. All the characters are well drawn and the end is most satisfying. I came across this writer by chance and am going to seek out more fiction by him , particularly Daisy Cooper and the people she encounters.

Enjoyable story... Easy listening... Excellent reading, presentation and performence by reader.

A story of unfolding intrigue.. Great characterisation. Not highbrow, or super intellectual but a jolly good story that unfolds as out heroine pieces together information and vital parts of the mystery of her brothers murder.

Thoroughly entertaining!

A great, old school murder mystery with good pace, some subtle humour and great attention to detail. The narration was rather wooden, but strangely didn’t lessen the enjoyment of the story.

Very Enjoyable

First in a series that I feel may become a favourite for me .
The account unfurled to introduce a varied cast of characters ….
then became a quite riveting “ who done it “ .
Central character was believable and very human ! sometimes walking into situations
that raised real tension .
So ….thoroughly enjoyed it all and will be following up with book 2 .

Interesting and intriguing mystery

Enjoyed this first one in the series. Set in the 1970’s in a village setting. The writing is well done and styled, with an interesting and intriguing plot. Well thought out and developed characters, including the ones you don’t like. The setting gives you a good resemblance of village life. Looking forward to carrying on with the next in the series and seeing how our main character develops.
