Summary
After rising to prominence for his role investigating the case of Jack the Ripper, former Detective Inspector Daniel Wilson is now retired. Known for his intelligence, his investigative skills, and most of all his discretion, he's often consulted when a case must be solved quickly and quietly. So when a body is found in the Egyptian collection of the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge, Wilson is called in.
As he tries to uncover the identity of the dead man and the circumstances surrounding his demise, Wilson must contend with an unhelpful police inspector and Abigail Fenton, the archaeologist who discovered the body and is determined to protect the Egyptian collection. Can they find a way to work together to solve the mystery?

Good old fashioned murder mystery.
Really loved this. Good murder mystery. Story kept me interest especially the Egyptology references. Narrator was excellent and made the whole thing thoroughly enjoyable. Would highly recommend if you want to sit back and relax.

Murder at .....
I enjoyed getting to know the two main characters. The plot was engaging enough to keep me listening. I look forward to the next story in this series.

Generally harmless, but disappointing
An interesting enough plot and some nice period atmosphere but extremely pedestrian. I got fed up with the "he said... she said" narrative style, and frankly the "Victorian women" depiction was pretty poor... I was waiting for them all to "swoon at the sight of an ankle!" I don't think I'll follow this series.

A Good Start to a New Series
A period murder mystery that could be called Cozy, as there are no ghastly descriptions, no profanities and main character is a "jolly good egg".
One of those novels that is slightly clunky, with a little stretch of imagination required in places owing to the time in which it is set, BUT I am sure will find it's feet and be an interesting series of books.
Not very deep, so good for a long drive where masses of concentration for facts is required.
(Well read, but personally I wish narrators would pronounce it correctly - [Police] CONstable, not cunstable.)

Slow paced Sunday afternoon detective story
Enjoyable slow paced Sunday afternoon detective story set in the museum. The story is enjoyable enough but nothing particularly memorable.

The new Holmes/Jack Frost/Tom Barnaby
I enjoyed this book immensely just the thing for light relief during lockdown. A welcome departure from the graphic detective novels of today. Entertainment personified! as a retired PC I want to enjoy my listening not a return to the real world. I don't want to appear to be critical of others it's just my way of dealing with the past.
