A Southern historical fiction, Murrell’s Story is Book Two in the Life on Bays Mountain series and can be enjoyed as a standalone book.
Born in the late 1890s and coming of age on a remote mountain in Tennessee, Murrell soon realizes that his wit and common sense may be all he has to help him navigate his journey through life.
As a young child Murrell endures the death of his Mama and emotional abandonment of his Daa. Murrell works hard to overcome his physical disability, only to end up alone at a Work Farm. His survival on a farm for the poor is filled with heartaches, loneliness, and perilous situations.
Murrell’s first-person account of his risky quest to halt a human trafficking gang will entertain and surprise the listener. When Murrell finally gets to return to his Bays Mountain, he reunites with his Daa. His determination and grit to build a good life and win the love of his life, Cora, will entertain, educate, and surprise the listener.

Murrells Story.

This is an excellent follow up to the first book in this series "Cora's Story". Murrell after the loss of his mother at a very young age and having a father who cannot come to terms with her death is sent away to stay with relatives. He has to grow up quickly as he copes with a Brother in Law who does not want him and cousins who love to abuse and mistreat him. His only friend seems to be his much older sister. After a couple of years he is sent to a Poor Farm where he is expected to work to earn his keep. After a surprise return for Christmas to his father he is returning on a horse he has been given to the farm when he hears a cry for help, the story the girl with a young baby he discovers tells him reveals that everything at the poor farm is not what it seems. What can Murrell do about it? a mere 11 year old boy. The story is packed with love and compassion and is superbly written in the first person. As he grows into adulthood many more trials and tribulations are inflicted on the young man but he overcomes them all with gods help. Eventually meeting up with Cora he finds a family and here the 2 stories overlap somewhat if you have read Cora's story but it is very well done. Marcus Barton's narration is brilliant and he is Murrell, A Highly recommended listen.

Loved the narration of Marcus Barton, who brings out the character, pain and joy to your ears.

This Story shows us and teaches you how the we as humans we can celebrate the triumph of the human spirit, even in the face of overwhelming adversity. How one person can over come resilience, learn forgiveness, and fight for a better life.
