When I started reading this book I was really enjoying it. Kendall met Jake in a shopping mall, he seemed nice enough to help her with two little children she was taking care of. He was sweet and kind and Kendall noticed that. However, as the book progresses we find that Jake has a real temper, he doesn't trust women due to his father's previous relationship. He has a history of being non-committal with short relationships. Even at the second meeting, Jake's inner thoughts, which are available to the reader, are anger that she is speaking to men, bearing in mind he hasn't had but a very limited interaction with Kendall. For us the story was set with that information in full view by the author; Karen King. The book was fun and interesting until the restaurant scene when Jake became very possessive where he had to walk over and bring her back to the table, for me, that was a red flag. In several scenarios, Jake would walk away from Kendall without acknowledging what she was saying, his inner dialogue wasn't happy with what she was saying so he chose to walk away rather than lose his temper. At this point do we really think Jake is still a good guy? Another red flag here, I don't think I do. When it came to a crucial part in the book where when delivering some paperwork sent by Jake to a large jewellery company, she encountered the owner who took an interest in the ring she was wearing and enquired about other jewellery she had made, He offered her a job and told her she was very talented. She was very excited and waited for Jake to call her, she didn't want the job but was pleased about the compliment on her work. He didn’t he was working and didn't like calls when he was working so she waited. . When Jake finally came back into the office he began shouting and refused to let her speak. His anger and his inability to listen to her is a serious situation. Kendall did the right thing, she quit, she left and she moved on. I am not a writer but there could have been 1000 ways to rewrite that without the kind of abuse Kendall was subjected to. Kendall at this point, made every attempt to move on and forget him although heartbroken. Later in the book, Jake decides he's made an error, really after two weeks. He thinks he's made an error He goes to her parent's house in Spain unannounced to see her she lets him apologise (weak apology) and explain. His anger and his refusal to listen to her in many situations are unacceptable. These should have been red flags she shouldn't immediately have acquiesced to his demands. At the end of the book, and possibly a spoiler, however, we know how a romantic book works, but still this is a warning. . . .
When he proposes, no romantic proposal here, and Kendall decides that she will be his “Forever” " He tells her that he will buy her a jewellery company and that she will become his little wife and she will have to quit her job and she will need to work on some charities and that should be enough for her. Of course, Kendall doesn't want that, and she speaks out for it. But the point is he has baited her, he wants to agitate her before laughing and saying that was never his idea at all. In real life, this woman should have walked hard and fast away from this jerk.
I think the author needs to take a class about male dominance, grooming, and abuse and how this kind of possessiveness and anger is not suitable for a romance book. It's a bit like telling little girls” Oh, he hits you because he likes you”, he doesn't hit you because he likes you, he hits you because he's a bully. If he's aggressive like that to a woman he's trying to pursue then he is definitely not the man for her. So note to Karen King: Please get some education on this mail aggressiveness and stop putting it in your books. It's not acceptable and should not be in books that young women read and set it as “normal”.

I'm sad to say that I didn't like this book at all but I stuck it out to the end just to see how bad it got. Thankfully it's a short book.
There was so little storyline here and so little description of anything. The book tells you that the characters visit an area but then it would just skip to them leaving again and just tell you they had a lovely day.
Never before have I listened to or read a book where I didn't want the main 'love interest' character to get together but this book was different. The male character, Jake is so possessive of Kendall even before they're an item. He even gets shirty when she doesn't answer her phone because she's out of signal. Okay, it is just a book but alarm bells were ringing for me very early on. She should have kicked him to the kerb before anything even started between them. Jake's behaviour in this book is appalling and yet Kendall just forgives him because he tells her he loves her ( even though they only met each other a few weeks ago and haven't seen each other for half of that time.
To me, this is not a feel good story at all. I'm half expecting there to be a sequel with a domestic abuse storyline.
